A close look at the table reveals that during the pre-test, the control group had the following weighted mean with their corresponding verbal description: knowledge on Ilocano culture 1.20 (P); attitude towards Ilocano culture 1.68 (P); appreciation scale based on rubric 1.60 (P); analysis of student journal 2.21 (B). It can be gleaned from the above data that the students had a poor knowledge regarding Ilocano folksongs. Perhaps they were not interested to listen to songs of the local dialect.
2. The lyrics of the songs “Yo Soy Chicano” and “Huelga en General” are similar in the way that both songs are about The Revolution. Mexicans struggling for what they are, like their rights, raza (culture). The way they sang make me understand that this people wants to defend their raza, like if they are really tired and desperate of so much injustice. Both lyrics are songs of the Chicano Movement.
In this case, Oliver Hall is Saint Mary’s College main place for students to eat and where the research question is implemented with participant observation and a survey sent out. Race/ethnicity of Saint Mary’s students is the independent variable, which will vary among students. Interactions with Sodexo workers will depend on the race/ethnicity of the student, because it is the dependent variable and the amount of interactions will vary from student to student. The findings expected after looking at the data collect, is that students considered a minority will have more and/or meaningful interactions with
The Data that has been collected, read, and analysis was to determine Miguel’s strengths and challenges (weaknesses). According to Miguel’s Data his strengths are Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, and Vocabulary. In the phonemic awareness: The student is scoring very well in phonemic awareness/oral language. He was able to get 10 out of 10 in sounding out words. He was also able to
A) Mr. Gualtieri cannot draw a conclusion about a cause-and-effect relationship from the evidence he has because he would be too quick to determine the factors that are affecting the students’ learning, development, and behavior (Ormrod, 2014, p.11). Instead of worrying about the cause-and- effect relationship from the evidence, Mr. Gualtieri should scrutinize the research report carefully; therefore, he must answer two questions. First, he must determine if he separated and controlled variables that might have an influence on the outcome. Second, he must ask if he has ruled out other possible explanations for his results? (Ormrod, 2014, p.11). If Mr. Gualtieri’s answers to both these questions are yes, then he should be able to draw a conclusion about the cause-and-effect relationship. Unfortunately, “yes” is not the answer to the two questions. This software program may not lead itself to experimental manipulation and tight control of other potentially influential variables because it is considered as a quasi-experimental study (Ormrod, 2014, p.10). Some of these influential variables that cannot be
On Saturday, April 29, 2017, I attended the Music of the Andes event at the Queens Library in Corona, the group was founded in 2010 with the name Inkarayku, a Quechua word that means “because of the Incas.” The group was led by its founder Andres Jimenez and he informed the audience, prior to the performance, that he created the group to link the past, present and future of Andean arts, through the performance of indigenous music. The group Inkarayku blends the organic power of Quechua folk songs with the energy of New York, the city that never sleeps. The group’s diverse line-up brings together a river of musical and artistic experience resulting in Andean folk music that transcends cultural boundaries and seamlessly shares the stage with other folk traditions of the Americas.
Felix Mendelssohn composed “Songs Without Words, Op. 19, No. 3” during the Romantic Period. It is known as a hunting song. The form of this song can be categorized as a rondo. This can be argued because the A theme that begins at measure 5 reappears throughout the song about two times. It comes back at measures 50 and 83. In between these A sections are a B section and a C section. The B section starts in measure 29 and the C section starts at measure 67.
The two groups were determined through tossing of the coin where the head were represented group one and the tail represented group two. Eighty students were considered as respondents of the study.
Alive from 1819 - 1892, Walt Whitman was and still is a famous poet from the 1800s. One of his famous poems "I Hear America Sing" was written to portray Whitman's thoughts and ideas of America. In the poem, Whitman hears the many different sounds of every day workers that incorporate to the life and culture of America. To Whitman, they are not just any ordinary sounds, in his ears it sounds like music. Alive from 1902 - 1967, we have Langston Hughes! Known best as one of the innovators for jazz music, Langston Hughes was also a very inspirational poet. Due to living most of his life in segregation, his poems have the visual outline of segregation with a deeper stronger meaning. "I, Too" was not one of Langston Hughes most famous poems, but was definitely one of
Simon and Garfunkel was a folk-rock duo that was a part of the 1960’s folk revival. Their music evokes certain elements from the folk tradition, including the use of the strophic form and certain themes, such as family, love, and loss. These themes were very important to the folk tradition because it was the reason and rhyme behind these songs. As a short example, the song called, The Boxer, released in 1969, stands out as an allegory for Paul Simon’s life. (Enders, 379) However, the element that stands out the most in this song is not the meaning behind it, but the music itself. The timbres of this song reflect folk tradition, such as the use of acoustic guitars, bass harmonicas, and a soft, steady tapping of the guitar and its strings. However,
The averages showed me a little amount of what changed. This what made me know I had a conclusion after all, for the hip pop genre. Looking at the results showed that their mood changed in a small way. Where as if they heard something sad and instrumental it would changed and decrease their mood. The T-Test value was not greater than 0.
Throughout each piece, Grandmaster Flash samples many elements from the original song. In the song "Freedom" by Grandmaster Flash, he uses the same baseline, melody, and percussion elements in 0:11. The original song "Get Up and Dance" by Freedom (which Flash ironically uses the groups name as the song title) has the similar melody in their hooks and melodies at 3:24. It comes together as a full band sound because of the rich instruments that are all throughout the song.
It was hypothesized that the mean of ¡¥Low¡¦ group would be lower than ¡¥Accurate¡¦ group as participants filled in the questionnaire, they were given example of lower (50%) figure. They believed that the examples
Art is often a guide to the unconscious mind. Even if a writer is focusing on a certain topic, the mind may find its way to talking about what it desires to. This is true in all creative expression and it is in this manner in which the mind forces us to spill out secrets. Writing may be the easiest form to read and understand, though it requires a skilled writer who allows him/her to put him/herself on the page. Enter, Tyler “The Creator” Okonma, an indie hip-hop rapper and entrepreneur from Los Angeles, California. Okonma’s genre lends way for lyrics that don’t conform to traditional standards, being as when he started his career he produced, wrote, and released all of his own albums on his own website. His use of shock value may cause
Well, new century, new millennium, new type of music. The 2000’s gave us the strengthening of Latin rhythms and the return of the rap as commercial music. Genres like reggaeton, bachata or cumbia began to gain a lot of followers in Latin America. At first it seemed that it would be a passing fad, nevertheless, the fact that it became popular throughout the continent meant that more and more bands of such rhythms emerged, causing a boom in the Latin music industry. On the other hand, in the anglo-saxon world the resurgence of the rap was increasingly noticeable, also the trap music began to be heard not only by the slums, but by the population in general. Unlike the music of the 60’s, the 2000’s lyrics began to have sexual and
