My pick for the 3 top greatest bands are: Journey, Metallica and, The Dirty Heads. I chose these for how they were able to maintain their audience, music genre, and enthusiasm for their fans. I chose Journey for a whole bunch of reasons, but a few would have to be the way it took its spot in the 1980s. Journey became a huge hit band in the 1980s and have been able to maintain their fans and continue to gain more over the years. Although they have gone through several singers and other members they have always been able to sustain the original singer Steve Perry’s vocals. There is only one original member his name is Neal Schon. The person who got me into journey would be my father who is a major journey fan for life. This is why Journey
I. Thesis: Despite their short lived time as a band, Nirvana remains the best band of all-time, even when compared to other successful bands of the same genre, such as Pearl Jam.
Situated predominantly in urban areas, gangs are becoming a major problem in today's society. The youth and adults are turning into gang members often times to leave behind the current situation they are living now. Many people who aren't familiar or affiliated with gang members are known to be curious as to why it is that the youth and adults join a gang. Some answers might be the current situation, obtaining social status, sense of protection, amongst other personal reasons. Everyone who joins a gang has different situations about why they decide to associate with gang members. In the novel, G-Dog and the Homeboys by Celeste Fremon, focuses on the gang members about East Los Angeles. This book draws the attention on the youth residing within the East Los Angeles territory and a look at the East Los Angeles gang members and how they play a major role in the book as one of the Latino gangs in East Los Angeles.
The Grateful Dead, the most popular so called underground band of all time. This band has underwent many changes, some good and others bad throughout their thirty or so years of performing. I plan to prove that a band that has remained together for thirty plus years isn’t as easy as many would assume. In fact I would have to say the “down” times in the band almost equal the outrageously great time they had. Despite all the down times the amazing music of the Grateful Dead always made it possible to bring smiles to empty faces anytime anywhere. Even now that the bands figure head (Jerry Garcia) has passed on, the family that he created (Deadheads) and left behind will never forget him or his music.
I chose to join show choir because I thought it would be a good way for me to leave my comfort zone and try something new and fun. The first time I thought of auditioning for show choir was when I saw them perform during my sophomore year. They sang and danced to a song titled, "Till the Love Runs Out" and the sound and choreography they did just blew me away. I knew then that I wanted to be a part of that choir.
How does the song “Don’t Stop Believin’” by Journey compare to the version by Glee? Glee’s cover version of the song “Don’t Stop Believin’” compared to the actual version can be very different, but can also be the same in many ways. For example, they both use the guitar solo, but both songs were released in different years. Here are some reasons why both songs are the same and different.
They wanted to stop being on the road. One member of the band Robbie Robertson talked that being on the road for more than sixteen years was too much. That is was not a place of life. The concert was The Band's farewell concert appearance. The technique of the guitars played was amazing. The guitar had an electric style where you want to play it in the air. Every solo it had given the music more of a funk to it. The group was able to play any style of music and still sounded good. Every person of the group had different backgrounds but they all gave their technique into their music. The instrument that stood out most were the electric guitars. Almost every artist that came out had a guitar with them. All the instruments the concert brought out was interesting to listen too. A harmonica being played at the same time as a guitar showed show instruments were taken as a challenge. They played it and the group gave it a rock and roll style to
They get prize in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is which decides the most popular rock band. The achievement show that this is very popular even now. I want a lot of people to know more Deep Purple, so I will recommend to close people.
To define a film by a certain genre, there are several elements and signatures that a film will display in order to signify its place amongst the genre. A film from the gangster genre is characterized by violence and lawlessness of american capitalism and The American Dream. The short lived classical era of the gangster genre in Hollywood is also greatly influenced by the production code which manifested the iconic moral narrative of the gangster genre. William A. Wellman’s 1931 film The Public Enemy can be considered a film of the gangster genre when one examines the conflict with the American dream, the rise and fall of the protagonist Tom Powers, as well as the visual storytelling employed to support the narrative.
When people are asked “which is the most rock famous band” or “do you know any rock band”, most people answer AC/DC. Despite being one of the oldest rock bands that are still active, AC/DC is still famous and well known among generations. The band has been around for more than 40 years and has been globally recognized as one of the most influential band to the pop culture of rock and roll. The band has a history of rotating members, yet the band is able to retain its famous characteristic in the music: energetic, eccentric, and raw.
“It is, then, all the odder that major figures concerned with education, in both nations, continue to behave as if the goal of education were economic growth alone.” Pg. 17
One of my favourite bands of all time is Nirvana, because this was the first rock band I started listening to at the age of twelve and this established my taste of music until nowadays. However, they had a big influence on their contemporary pop-rock musical industry in the early nineties, as well. Despite the fact that they released only three studio albums in seven years, Nirvana is often regarded as one of the most influential, effective and remarkable rock bands of the century.
“Dead Heads” existed in a subculture that was very common in the 1980’s which originated from the band “The Grateful Dead”. This band gave people in America an overall feeling of acceptance and freedom that they found that mainstream music culture could not provide. The culture of the Dead Heads and what drew people to become apart of the culture can be understood using the structural functionalist approach. This culture as based upon freedom, and had very little sense of what was right and wrong. With conventional culture opposing their beliefs and freedom, many individuals began to carry out acts of violation against authority and the people who followed mainstream culture. These scandals included things
In the Commitments, director Alan Parker beautifully depicts the liberating effects of music. Music brings the members of The Commitments together and gives them a purpose. In one scene towards the end of the film The Commitments, dressed in suits, are standing atop piles of rubbish for their promotional band picture. Music has liberated them and this image is proof of it because the group all came from lower class families and by coming together to make soul music, they are rising above the garbage.
The first half of the concert was only instrumental. There were two violins, two violas, and two cellos. They sat on stage with the violins one my right, then the violas in the middle, and the cellos on the end. The violins played a few songs solo. The second half of the concert was only the choir and a piano. Their performance started with the song Daybreak. The song Daybreak also had a few girls playing percussion, one of them had a tambourine. Using SHMRG, the Harmony of most of the choirs songs were very homophonic. The Melody of most of the songs were mainly slow, though a couple songs were very fast, and upbeat.
With a great deal of different genres of music available for listening to, each genre must effect, shape, and allow for the expression of personality to be contrasting with each of the different genres of music that are available to us. In a recent study executed by Yair Neuman, Leonid Perlovsky, Yochai Cohen and Danny Livshits, from the Department of Education & Homeland Security Institute, based their experiment on “a very specific research question: Do personality types differ in terms of their essays’ similarity to the lyrics of various music genres?” (4). They set up their experiment to solely test whether a person’s personality can be directly affected by certain types of music. Their experiment concluded “…all results were statistically
