Mullen-RhoadsRMGT7110-4: Evaluating Strategic Leadership The leadership approach employed in an organization affects the vision, growth, and possible success of an organization (Malewska & Sajdak, 2014; Yukl, 2013). When organizational leaders employ strategic leadership, they consider various elements including internal and external factors that can affect performance, the influence leaders have on people and processes, situations that may alter a leader’s ability to affect performance, cultures within the organization, disaster planning, succession planning, and the role of role of executive teams (Malewska & Sajdak, 2014; Yukl, 2013). In order to respond in suitable manner to these threats and opportunities, strategies must be adaptable, that is, have the ability to change, at times, significantly in various areas including products, services, manufacturing techniques, distribution channels, and marketing approaches (Yukl, 2013). Efficiency and Procedure Consistency Efficiency and procedure consistency are other components of strategic leadership (Yukl, 2013). Strategic leadership considers the most effective ways to use individuals and resources to perform the operations necessary in an organization. Efficiency is particularly imperative when seeking a cost advantage for consumers. There are several ways efficiency can be improved, including technology, redesigning workflows, and eliminating unnecessary activities and resource usage (Yukl, 2013). Procedure or process consistency helps prevent needless delays, quality defects, and accidents (Yukl, 2013). Reliability is important to minimize or eliminate substandard products. Process reliability is often a key component in increasing profits because of unreliable processes can attribute to defective products, inferior services, and increased accidents (Yukl, 2013). Human Resources Skills and experience of organizational members is often an important aspect of strategic leadership; this is often referred to as human capital (Yukl, 2013).
