It is also important to note that both people that Junko sees as the greatest threats to her plans are male. Junko notes to Makuro that the only person smart enough, stupid enough, and lucky enough to figure out her plans and then work to oppose her is Nagito Komeada, a man that she cannot manipulate with her intellect or charm with her outward appearance. A large part of the contradictions within Junko’s character come from the fact that Junko has multiple personalities. At the end of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Junko reveals that in addition to her “plain” Junko personality, she has created six more. Junko notes that these personalities are not due to the fragileness of her mental state, but were created due to her overwhelming boredom with the world. Junko explains, “I get quickly fed up with everything in a fit of Despair! That includes my personality” (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc). This is further supported by that fact that Junko’s personalities were not created by Junko on her own, but also draw from the personalities of the five surviving characters of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc minus Naegi. Junko’s “royal” personality draws from the arrogant air of Togami, her “intelligent” personality ties into Kirigiri’s detective nature, and her “cute” personality likens to Asahina’s charm. Both Junko’s “sad” and “punk” personalities relate to Toko Fukawa, the first being Toko’s regular personality and the second being Toko’s alter ego Genocider Syo. Finally, Junko’s “trashy” personality allows Hagakure to influence it. Due to the fact that Junko’s personalities span seven people in total, it allows her to be in various places on Danganronpa’s spectrums at one time.
