Boyle writes several stories about “gang life” and people being murdered because of their past. To illustrate this, Boyle mentions the problems as lack of redemption into the society after being a prior gang member or having served time in prison. It is the second chance a lot of people don’t get after making huge mistakes in their lives. Once they come out of prison or rehab, they are left with nothing but the factory jobs.
