Close your eyes... Imagine yourself sitting in a comfortable chair in a beautiful field filled with vibrant colored flowers letting off your favorite floral fragrance. There is a side table with your favorite warm drink filling the air above it with artful steam. The book you hold in your hands resembles the length of a novella and had a dark color theme on the front cover with sharp cursive as the title font. You open it gently with anticipation, wondering what this story could possibly be about and all of a sudden, the world around you begins to fade out. What is going on?! You think panicking. You jerk away from what seems like a deep sleep to find that your math teacher is staring at you along with the whole class. Oops...
Fictional Literature is a world that a person’s mind retreats to when bored of reality. Or in other words, a short story, novel or, novella created from the imagination or feigned.
There are many types of Fictional Literatures that may be interesting or even surprising to a person. In today’s time period, it is a big category that many people such as myself prefer to read. Not only does it give writers the chance to get creative, it gives readers the chance to read a good book. A reader may be trying to look for a certain kind of books and without genres it would be difficult. Genres are a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular for, content, and technique (dictionary.com). There are a lot of genres: crime, fantasy, horror,
1. What are fictional stories? 2. Many people will say fictional stories are stories that are not true. 3. Yes, that is correct, but there are many more parts to fiction. 4. Per Kirszner and Mandell, “A work of fiction is a narrative that originates in the imagination of the author rather than in history or fact” (62) 5. Some examples of fiction are poems, epics, and novels. 6. Not all fiction is one hundred percent false, “some fiction focuses on real people and is grounded in actual events, but the way the characters interact, what they say, and how the plot unfolds are largely the author’s invention” (Kirszner and Mandell 62) 7. The plot, the setting, and the point of view of a fictional story are only three
Literature is not only important to society, but is very important for each individual to read and understand. Literature can provide a way for people to learn more about what happened in the past and can even be a way for people to reduce stress in their lives. There are many different types of literature and each of them can be used for different reasons. You can use books to study specific topics, to relive the past, and to express yourself through writing. Literature can be written about the past, the future and even about present day society. Even if the book or novel is fiction, it still has some sort of theme that resembles a real world experience or problem. We need literature in our lives to help us develop and improve, not only as individuals, but as a society and to learn about the past.
Is not knowing the pain that you will face in the future a good thing or a bad thing?
In literature, there are genres. Two main genres are fiction and nonfiction. Fiction is a work of art that is not real or based on the facts. “‘Fiction’ refers to literature created from the imagination” (“What is the difference…?”). It can explain a story in a different point of view, maybe in a way that is out of the norm. Fiction is basically just nonfiction in an exaggerated way. Though fiction may not be based on the facts, it can still resemblance a sense of real life events. “Fiction may base on stories on actual historical events. Although fictitious characters are presented in a fictitious setting in stories and novels, yet they may have some resemblance with real life events and characters” (“Fiction”). Literature is meant to
Stephen King’s “On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft” is a marvelous and unusual text. Within the first part of his book, also called C.V., he explains his life experience up to the day he finishes the book. King expresses his life with multiple literary elements that assist the readers on imagining his life of adventures, catastrophes, fears, and loves. Following are three of my favorite passages that caught my attention.
The significance of the title, “The Story We Tell”, in my opinion refers to the historical narrative told from the viewpoint of the victor, the White Americans. Throughout our K-12 education we often learn history from the viewpoint of the Euro-American or Whites. This creates a false truth, creating a racial hierarchy and justification for wrong doing. We often hear that history repeats itself, which as we see with the mistreatment of non-whites, this is true. We only know, what we know… we need to be taught the true history that took place from all aspects, not just from the viewpoint of the victor.
It is also about viewing things in perspective and seeing things differently. Fiction gives us new lens and it opens up to how the character and narrator thinks. It also shows how events can unfold in the real world rules and timeline. In one of the cites it said how it tells us how some events in the book can led to real world rules and timeline. Also it says that it can tells us the way on how the character and narrator think. This helps the students because it gives them multiple lens and it sometimes connects to real world rules. Within that it can also challenge the reader to really think about it. People reading fiction help them find new lens because they have to pay attention to the details in the book to find the lens. Once they start to read fiction it’s all about imagination and we have to get the image in the book and adapt it to are heads so we know what we are talking about. This can help the reader’s because if they get it in their head they can see what they are talking about and they can see all the details. Then it can get in there head and get the lens or see what the main character/narrator are thinking of. Finally is that Not only is this book about fiction it is also based on fantasy/ not true events. It is also about viewing things in Last, is that Fiction needs to be in the curriculum because the students will read it more because they will
Jalapeno bagels is about a boy named Pablo whom cannot decide what to take to school for International Day. He wants to bring something from his parents’ baker. He wants something that represent his heritage but he cannot decide what to bring. His mother who is Mexican baked pan dulce and change bars. His father who is Jewish baked bagels and challah. Both of the bake good were good but while helping his parents with the bakery on Sunday morning, Pablo made a decision on what to bring. He decided to bring jalapeno bagels because they are a mixture both of his parents and just like him too. The multicultural representations in the story line is Mexican and Jewish. The pictures that were drawn in the book, the family has the same color of skin even though the parents are different cultures and the main character is mixed. There were no different skin colors.
This was my first Scott Sigler book, and I have to say that I am impressed. Because of a small note included in the back of the digital copy asking us readers to not to spoil anything, this review might come out sounding vaguer than I previously intended.
Fiction is a term used to classify a story that focuses on the imagination of the writer instead of history or fact. Many people are able to express their form of creativity through writing because of the different genres included in fiction. A famous fictional story is the “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” by C.S. Lewis and is a part of the Chronicles of Narnia series. The book followed four children, Lucy, Edmund, Susan, and Peter, they travel to a Land called Narnia and with the help of powerful allies they plan to defeat the evil White Witch. Ursula, K. Le Gain, a science fiction writer stated, “While we read a novel, we are insane—bonkers.
In “The Story of an Hour” (1894), Kate Chopin presents a woman in the last hour of her life and the emotional and psychological changes that occur upon hearing of her husbands’ death. Chopin sends the protagonist, Mrs. Mallard, on a roller coaster of emotional up’s and down’s, and self-actualizing psychological hairpin turns, which is all set in motion by the news of her husband’s death. This extreme “joy ride” comes to an abrupt and ultimately final halt for Mrs. Mallard when she sees her husband walk through the door unscathed. Chopin ends her short story ambiguously with the death of Mrs. Mallard, imploring her reader to determine the true cause of her death.
A romantic drama film is a genre that explores the difficult aspects that come with love. The plot usually includes two people that are in love that can’t be together the way they want to be due to obstacles. The obstacles in a romantic drama film can include a family 's disapproval, to forbidden love, to one 's own psychological restrictions. The Notebook is a movie based on a best-selling novel that was written by author Nicholas Sparks. This is a love story that is composed of a series of obstacles between two young people that are madly in love with each other. It perfectly fits and displays the criteria for a successful romantic drama film because it includes the complexity of love, and elicits emotions.
There are many different kinds of genres, such as romance, comedy, suspense and mystery. If you really enjoy mystery and suspense books because there is a cliff hanger after every chapter, and it keeps wanting the reader to read more. Found the novel by Harlan Coben, and the last book of the Mickey Bolitar series was very exciting and also very suspenseful for many reasons, such as setting, point of view, and the conflict.
There are many ways to supplement a story in order to add lucidity. It is done through literary devices and Tim O'Brien's "The Things They Carried" is no different. "The Things They Carried" is a narrative about a soldier at war in Vietnam. However, this story provides multiple layers of meaning through O'Brien's tone and style that help the reader further understand it. Both of these literary devices are embedded in the story and gradually help define it.
The word “genre” is defined as a category of artistic composition, whether that art be painting, music, or literature. Genres are always defined by an origin point, the first and most essential example of its kind. In the case of literature, these are known as classical books. Novels and stories that are responsible for developing or popularizing a certain style, or theme. An easy example of a classical book responsible for creating genres could be The Hobbit. A fantasy novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien to entertain his children and keep track of the bedtime stories he continuously told them. Tolkien’s wonderous stories bore a new era of creation, seeing the continuation of the story in Lord of the Rings, and becoming the basis for modern fantasy
