Date and Place of Birth
Pablo Neruda was Born Ricardo Eliecer Neftali Reyes in Parral, Chile on July the 12th 1904. His father was a railroad worker while his mother was a teacher who passed shortly after his birth. Neruda had two half siblings when growing up.

Education
He attended Temuco Boy’s School, where he published his first poems at the age of 13 under the name Pablo Neruda to the daily La Mañana. This was because Neruda wished to hide his poetry from his father who was not in agreement with Neruda’s dream. Pablo Neruda choose this pseudonym as Jan Neruda (1834-1891) had inspired the young poet. Once Neruda graduated at the age of sixteen, he moved to Santiago to study Education and French at the University of Chile, under his father’s duress.

Employment, Family Life and Death
Pablo Neruda’s writing dream would not financially support him, so he became a consul.He represented Chile in many different countries; such as Burma, Sri Lanka, and Buenos Aires. Neruda had three wives; Maria Antonieta Hagenaar whom he married in 1930 however, divorced in 1936, Delia de Carril who married Neruda in 1934 only to divorce in 1955, and Matilde Urrutia who was married to PabloNeruda in 1966 till 1973 –when she became a widow.
Sadly, on the 23rd of September, 1973 with possible evidence of him being poisoned.
