The American dream to me is a secure way of life for the future. Having a steady job, no struggles and financial securities. Living life to the absolute fullest while being successful by doing what you love. So my idea is supported by connecting to Sam Walton and Jay –Z profiles/interviews. The interview says no matter how hard you had it growing up, you can still conquer anything if you work hard enough and put your mind to it. This is the same as the visual image of the homeless person in the trunk this, tells the reader you can come from nothing and build and work towards your dreams and goals.
My thesis is Jay –Z and Sam Walton has different views on what the American Dream is. Although both men had different backgrounds, they both become very successful entrepreneurs. The rhetorical strategy I used to argue my point is comparing and contrasting. My first line of argument, a successful person is someone who is an independent, leader, optimistic, goal driven, passionate patient person. A successful person is a hard worker who is not afraid to try new things.
Therefore, what does it mean to be successful, I believe having strong communication, strong work ethic, having will power and self-reliance, integrity, faith and never giving up?
