21. Personalize your product with a story If you’re old enough, you probably remember the story of “Baby Jessica ”. The story of 18-month-old Jessica McClure was in 1987. She was running behind her aunt’s house one day and fell into a deep hole that was from an abandoned oil rig. It was only 8 inches in diameter, barely big enough for her to fit so she was wedged in tight and she had gone 22 feet down into the hole. Within a few hours, the whole nation was glued to the TV as the fire and rescue guys tried in vain to rescue her. Finally, after 58 days, they got her out and remarkably, she only received minor injuries. Everyone responded to the aid of this little girl after her rescue. Her mother received over $700,000 in donations and a television movie was eventually made about the event. The point is that people will respond more favorably to something that is identified to them. If this had been a general story about how several children have fallen into abandoned oil rigs in Texas over the years, it wouldn’t have gotten even close to the attention that Baby Jessica received. It was because everyone felt like they knew this little girl. Find a story pertaining to your product. If you can’t find a good one, take one that you do find and embellish it a bit. I don’t mean lie, that could come back to haunt you. I mean do as they do with movies that are based on a true story and make it more appealing and personal. One way to find a story is to research case studies. For

The American dream is an example of a national spirit that represents different ideologies. The set of ideas may be of democracy, equality matters, liberty, rights, and opportunities. The American dream believes in freedom for prosperity and success for its citizens. The idea suggests that upward social mobility for individuals can be achieved only through hard work. In a story done by George Saunders, the American dream is exemplified in several instances. The author, George, tells the story of contemporary America through a diary. The main character in the story is a father to three daughters. The family’s struggles are examples of how individuals will go extra miles just to provide for their families and also
In “The Semplica-Girl Diaries”, George Saunders makes an important statement about the role of materialism in the American Dream, and how this materialism may not be the key to happiness many believe it to be. Saunders tells of a middle class family that strives to meet the standards of their peers and find a happier life. The father, who acts as the narrator, believes that acquiring and spending money on material objects, specifically the Semplica Girls, will improve the family’s life by improving how the family’s financial situation appears to others. The father’s primary values are that wealth and social standing are crucial to attaining the good life, and he believes the purchase of the Semplica Girls will fulfill these values. However, it is clear from the family’s ultimate situation and the disapproval of the mother’s successful father, that the narrator’s beliefs are misguided and potentially damaging to the family.
This essay will focus on the short story by Kate Chopin and its use of symbols, setting and characters. Desiree’s baby was perhaps one of the best stories I’ve ever read. Analyzing it was not easy at all. Its use of symbols was very hard to comprehend. At first, it doesn’t make sense. But as you think critically, all the symbols, and setting and the characters in this literature plunge together in one amazing story.
Spanning and providing passage over rivers, chasms, and roads, bridges are much more than just structures. They can be the attempt to save something precious into what could turn out as divorce. Marie Arana, a distinguished author for writing “Two Worlds, One Childhood”, shares how she was the link between her two obverse parents, whose marriage was almost doomed from the beginning. Marie even takes note of when she notices her reflection through a little girl, and claims that every marriage has a “moment.”
The memoir took readers through the roller coaster ride Jeannette Walls’ knew as her young life. In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Rex and Rose Mary Walls’ parenting styles are quite similar to how Walt Disney believed children should be brought up. His belief was that “ Most things are good, and they are the strongest things; but there are evil things too, and you are not doing a child a favor by trying to shield him from reality”. Both the Walls and Disney believe children shouldn’t be sheltered from the harsh realities of the world; they should learn about life the hard way. Nowadays parents shelter their kids, but Jeannette Walls’ parents and Walt Disney believe in an opposite way of parenting.
On May 6, 2013 nearly 11 year after being held prisoner she was finally found by authorities, due to her health condition at the time she was immediately hospitalized since she had not been to a doctor since she was 21 (Knight, 2015). She was told she had a life threatening bacterial infection in her stomach that was eating it away and the doctors were unsure if she was going to make it or not, luckily they found her in time (Mitchell, 2015). Doctors also told her that

The author Linda Pastan, imagines a parent running breathlessly to regain her strength from the ending connection she once shared with her daughter in her poem, “To a Daughter Leaving Home.” It’s a mother’s biggest fear when it comes to their child or children leaving home while going their own ways when the time is right. Judith Wright’s poem “Mother to Child” is about a woman’s emotions during the different stages of motherhood. It tells the audience that the bond between a mother and her child is very powerful and that it changes as the child grows. Wright shows us this through her use of imagery, symbolism and the structure of her poem. The use of those three elements of literature help communicate the love the woman has for her child and how their connection grows stronger as time goes on.
"My last night of childhood began with a visit home (Butler, 1995, p. 1).” In her short story Bloodchild, Octavia Butler presents the story of a boy named Gan raised in a dystopian society where two different species depend on each other to survive. From a psychological point of view, childhood is a process that marks a big part of your life. In Freud's subconscious theory, different events can be compared with the growth of Gan: the human mind structured as an iceberg, the memories of Gan and the last day of his childhood.
