When it comes down to our understanding of the world it is ultimately the result of
our sensual means of perception. In other terms, can we really trust the truth, or anything
that we know of scientifically? What does it mean to know something is true and also
why it is important to distinguish between what you know and do not or cannot know? It
is very difficult to be able to believe everything you hear, unless you experience it for
yourself.
Let?s say the perception is like viewing through goggles. If the tint of the goggles
is green, the world appears green, if it?s black the world too 'becomes' black. You want to
see poverty, you can. You want to see or feel corruption, and you can get that. If you

Perhaps if someone told you that pigs could fly, would you be gullible enough
to assume it? Or would you need solid evidence in order to believe that fact? Perception
is also determined by theories throughout life. Plato, who is a Greek philosopher,
discusses theories of knowledge throughout his famous dialogue, the Theaetetus. He
researched many different ways of learning and attempts to define knowledge and
perception. This is the beginning of how perception can be defined and looked upon.
While researching perception, a perfect example would be the Salem witch trials.
Throughout history millions of women have been scorned, accused, arrested, tortured, put
to trial, and persecuted as a witch. Although before the Salem witch trials, they were
originally created in Europe. These began in the 1450?s, whereas the Salem trials didn?t
start until the late 1600?s. Regardless people were intimidated and scared by witches.
They feared that it would overthrow Christianity. With much fear in mind, the Catholic
Church was implemented. They began to take action upon their situation, and start
crucifying any person that was accused of witchcraft. Now a day to accuse someone of
witchcraft is absolute madness. Back then they didn?t know any better. They believed
that killing an individual that possessed ?magic? was ultimately the best idea out there.
For example, if a woman was accused of witchcraft, they may drown
In life, what we perceive tends to show misconception in how the thought plays out. A good example would be the character Jay Gatsby in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s American classic: The Great Gatsby. Gatsby was unable to distinguish between his love for Daisy, a reality, versus the illusion that he could recapture her love by establishing and inventing a fraudulent past. He believed he could repeat the past, and acquire a flaunting wealth. In the novel, Jay Gatsby seems incompetent in establishing a difference between the realities of his life versus the illusion he made out.
We judge people differently based on the meaning the ATTRIBUTE to their behavior, mainly, if it was internally of externally caused.
people were being accused of witchcraft and, the people were being accused of things and they were not even doing it .
The Salem Witch Trials, also know as the Salem Witchcraft Trials were legal proceedings which took place of course in the Salem Village of Massachusetts. These trials began during the spring of 1692, after a group of young girls in the village, claimed to be possessed by the devil accusing several local women of practicing the craft. Victims were prosecuted and executed for reputedly practicing witchcraft, when little to no evidence of the act itself existed. This historical period resulted in twenty people, mostly women, being hung for black magic conspiracies. Neighbors accused neighbors; even church members accused other church members of witchcraft. Others were accused, but fled the area before they could be arrested. During this time
“And now Nineteen persons having been hang 'd, and one prest to death, and Eight more condemned, in all Twenty and Eight, of which above a third part were Members of some of the Churches of N. England, and more than half of them of a good Conversation in general, and not one clear 'd; about Fifty having confest themselves to be Witches, of which not one Executed; above an Hundred and Fifty in Prison, and Two Hundred more accused; the Special Commision of Oyer and Terminer comes to a period.”("The Salem Witch Trials, 1692." )
Nineteen were hung, one was pressed and tortured to death, hundreds were imprisoned, and five had died while waiting to be trialed in prison. They were just a victim of being someone’s personal vendetta. The witch trials were revolved around a group of women that were said to of witnessed witchcraft. These young women were thirsting after their enemies to get the type of justice they thought to believe was reasonable for things certain people had done in the past that enraged them. Witch hunts like these root back far, all the way back to New England. During the 17th century europe was swarmed with accusations of
This was one of the reasons that there was so much hysteria that went along with the Salem Witch Trials.
In 1692 women were accused of being witches. This resulted in the execution of twenty
These individuals may or may not have been witches, yet the jury many times chose to hang any accused individuals with or without reasonable cause. Today, much like during the Witch Trials, people are sent to prison for crimes they didn’t commit. Of course, many guilty people are sent to prison and rightfully so, but sometimes good lawyers are able to convince the jury unjustly sending innocent individuals to a life in prison. Though, Americans are not scared of being sent to jail for witchery, they are scared of being in the wrong place at the wrong time due to the fear of governmental polices.
Authorities during the Salem Witch Trials era were called upon to arrest or execute “witches” due
More than 200 people were accused of practicing witchcraft, the devil’s magic and about 20 people were executed. The 20 people that died were either stoned, or hanged.
the accused behalves were frequently in turn accused of being a witch. The Salem Witch Trials
This started the hysterical beginning of the Salem Witch trials, which resulted in many women, men, and children being accused of practicing witchcraft. Out of the one hundred fifty people accused in Salem, twenty of them were executed as witches, while others rotted away and died in jail. The people of Salem did not discriminate who they executed or who they sent to jail so the result was a diverse range of citizens being accused.
In 1692, the Salem Witch Trials were held in Salem Village. Local officials interrogated women over their affiliation with witchcraft. Most of
There are four different sources of knowledge: perception, introspection, reason and memory. All our knowledge roots from our perception. Perception is the way humans sense the world outside the body. We perceive through our five senses: see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. Humans gain knowledge through experiences and experience through perception. Usually we can trust our senses to perceive our surroundings effectively but there are times we misperceive. Illusions, hallucinations or impediments of the accurate flow of information to our senses are examples of misperceptions. For example if someone hits their head causing their vision to blur or impedes them from effectively processing what occurring around them, then they shouldn’t trust their senses. Another example would be an anxiety attack causing a signal of threat to the brain also preventing the person from correctly processing their surroundings. If nothing can prove we are misperceiving then we have good reason to be believe our senses.
