In Australia 3000 deaths each year are caused by air pollution. Scientific research shows that over the last decade, air pollution is increasing due to overpopulated areas, and burning of fossil fuels in both energy plants, and vehicles. The initiative- ‘conserve energy future’ states-“inhaling polluted air takes away at least 1-2 years of a typical human’s life”.
Presently, 6.8 billion people exist on the Earth today. Combined, the entirety of farmland needed for these billions of people to be fed is equivalent to the size of South America. The population of Earth is still steadily increasing. Populations are expected to continue rising to 9.6 billion within the year 2050. Each one of these extra people also needing more healthy food, clean water, space, and energy to survive. Air pollution is a vast problem which can be fixed, although it will take time. Air pollution kills 3.3 million people a year, including 55,000 in the United States, mostly from strokes and heart attacks, according to a study by scientists from the United States, Europe and the Middle East. Cities are trying to crack down on air pollution and even the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, is trying to pass a bill aimed at limiting CO2 emissions. If society doesn 't act now there could be serious repercussions for future generations.
One of the most well known problems of the world is air pollution. These deaths cost the US economy about $225 billion in lost labor income. Also, “diseases attributed to both types of air pollution caused 1 in 10 deaths in 2013, or more than six times the number of deaths caused by malaria” (“Air Pollution Deaths”), which shows that this issue is something that needs to be desperately fixed. Despite many attempts to curb air pollution, it is still a prominent fixture that is not going away.
