Both John L. Holland & John Krumboltz's have made enormous strides in advancing the field of career development and counseling. In the midst of our current global decline, appropriate skills training and counseling is vitally needed. Through the work of these two individuals, society can benefit from a renewed sense of capability in regards to employment John Holland's theory is predicated on personality and its influence over an individual's career aspiration. Holland, through the use of the Holland Occupational Themes describes in detail the varying personalities that seek job opportunities that best match their personality traits. In describing his theory Holland writes, "The choice of a vocation is an expression of personality." Through his theory Holland separates personality into 6 distinct parts consisting of, "Doers," "Thinkers," "Creators," "Helpers," "Persuaders," and "Organizers (Holland, 1973)." Below is a brief description of each category with examples of occupations that fit the appropriate framework. Doers- According to Holland this category is predicated on individuals who are independent, stable, persistent, and thrifty. These individuals enjoy tasks that are physical, athletic, or mechanical in nature. Many of these individuals are more physically oriented and enjoy being outdoors, using tools, and operating machines.
