There are plenty of things that I learned about human development. One of those things is that each child develops differently than one another. I learned that although a child is in the concrete stage of Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, but that doesn’t mean they’ve mastered all of the skills needed to be in this stage. I can apply this knowledge by allowing myself to teach in different ranges. For example, just because a student is in second grade, it doesn’t mean that they can do everything a second grader should do. As long as I work hard to get that student were they should be. It is believed that Piaget’s fifth stage of human development is known as postformal thought. Postformal thought is thinking that acknowledges that adult predicaments must sometimes be solved in relativistic terms. This basically means the ability to understand that contradictions exist in the world around us. In this stage, one can conceive of multiple logics, perceptions, or choices. It also gives the person in this stage the ability to deal with uncertainty and inconsistency. Postformal thought is common in emerging adults and is sometimes compared to formal operations.

However, the theory focuses not only on compassionate how the children obtain knowledge, but likewise on the discernment of the substance of intelligence. They are the preoperational stage for the 2 to 7 year old and the concrete operations stage for the 9 year old. The preoperational stage (three years old preschooler), this is where a new child can intellectually perform and signify to the objects and issues with the quarrel or the images, and they can act. The concrete operations (nine year old student), where a child is at the stage and deliver the ability to maintain, reserve their thinking, and analyze the objects in conditions of their many parts. However, they can also assume logically and understand comparison, but only about the concrete events.

He doesn’t know this aunt well enough to form a sense of comfortability to her. A great way to ease the issue is for the parent to interact with the aunt, so the toddler can see she is harmless.
The child I observed for the project was my five year old cousin. The activity I observed her doing is playing dress up. She likes to dress up as batgirl, wear capes, and dress up as Elsa from Frozen because they both have brown hair. This is a prime example Piaget’s preoperational state of cognitive development. This stage is described as when a child uses symbolic thinking, use of proper syntax and grammar to express full concepts. When she comes to our house she also enjoys riding her bike, coloring, playing games, and playing at the park. My mom helps her make homemade play doe; this allows her to learn how to make things. The combinations of those activities are good for intellectual, emotional, and physical growth.

It is called the Sensorimotor stage because in it children are occupied with sensing things and moving them. From these activities they learn what makes things happen, what the connections are between actions and their consequences. They learn to grasp and hold and what happens when they let go.

Tim is most likely withdrawn because of his traumatic experience as a young child. From the start of Tim’s life, he is already predisposed to an idea of abandonment with the type of relationship he had with his birth mother the first few years of his life. Tim’s mother going into the role of more so a sibling than parental figure most likely set the stage for these ideas of the instability of relationships. The stages include things like judgment, thought, and knowledge of infants, children, teens, and adults. These four stages were names after Jean Piaget a developmental biologist and psychologist. Piaget recorded intellectual abilities and developments of infants, children, and teens. The aim of this essay is to briefly explain Piaget’s Stage Theory and evaluate its appropriateness for explaining how children develop mentally. His theory states that children develop in four different stages from the ages 0-12. There are varying sub-stages for these and each has its own description with experiments to test which stage an infant is in. Although Piaget is a credited theorist this particular theory is often criticised and this essay will explore the reasons for this as well as providing experimental evidence for the criticisms and for Piaget’s theory.

According to Piaget adolescent are in formal operational stage. The cognitive development in comparison to physical development is less visible. However, cognitive development greatly influences the way adolescent think about themselves, peers, relationship and the world around them. The adolescents in formal high school education enter into Piaget’s final stage of formal operations which results in the development of abstract thinking.
It is no question that a child's early development is largely influenced by the environment around them and how they are able to internalize it. The human lifespan is divided into four main stages, each entailing developmental benchmarks to be met. Each person carries an ego that is developed by our responses to common conflict and crises. I believe the four stages explained by Swiss psychologist Jean Piaget can result in a very healthy development if reached successfully, and that despite our predetermined characteristics, the ego is largely developed through the exploration of various environment and social interactions.
