Sources of Information Research is the collection, collation, analysis and evaluation of data. I used various sources to carry out the research work. I concentrated on getting data from the secondary sources. Secondary sources of information are analysis, interpretation and evaluation of primary sources A few sources of secondary information include: Websites Newspapers and Magazines Academic books and Journals Government Statistics Research reports Biographical works Primary sources of information are original materials on which research is based. They include: Speeches Interviews Questionnaires Patents The main sources of information were the audited financial statements of S.A. Talkie for the years ended 31 December 2011, 2012 and 2013. In addition to that I also obtained the audited financial statements of a competitor “Basem International Shipping and Logistics Company Limited”, hereinafter referred to as “Basem”. Given that the accounting profession is still in infancy in Saudi Arabia, the industry data was not readily available. Moreover most of the companies involved in this sector are privately owned and the financial information is not published. This resulted in limitations in benchmarking with the industry averages. I had some useful discussions with the management of S.A. Talkie which helped me understand the business trend and analyse the performance of the Company. These discussions provided me with valuable information about the future
Research can be used in many methods, for example: questionnaires, television, leaflets, books etc. it allows us to keep up to date on the new findings or discoveries e.g. a new type of cancer or a new vaccination. Research is the investigation into
Research can be defined as the search for knowledge, or as any systematic investigation, with an open mind, to establish novel facts, solve new or existing problems, prove new ideas, or develop new theories. Research can be divided into different steps in order to understand the whole process more in depth. The first step towards conducting research is to observe. Consistst of the subject area of ones interest and following that subject area to conduct subject related research. The subject area should not be randomly chosen since it requires reading a vast amount of
WHAT IS RESEARCH? It is a planned process whereby information is collected for a specific purpose, analysed and reported.
According to Depoy and Gittin, research is a way individuals think about problems in systematic way. Research is generally described as description, exploration, analysis, prediction and problem solving. There are different types of research and these researches are called the experiments, quasi-experiments and non-experiments. The purpose of research is to provide the insight to practice, it also enhance individuals understanding as well as developing new approaches with different topics, get to test your research for effectiveness. Understanding research is important because it helps to build individuals knowledge bases and informs decision making in practice. Research also enable us to make sure that our practice are up to date with relevant information.
Research is comprised of data which give the reader some understanding of the subject matter. In order for a reader to completely gain a full comprehension of this information, they must understand key terms. The following list of definition is provided to supply the reader with a better understanding of the findings.
In order to provide the Australia Park Victoria with the appropriate data to solve its current crisis, the most appropriate method of data collection for this research is the qualitative method. According to Gay and Airasian (p 627) qualitative method is the collection of extensive data on various variables over a long time in a natural setting with an aim of acquiring insights not possible using other methods. It involves three different kinds of information collection: direct observation, in depth and open-ended interviews and written documents. Qualitative method involves use of random sampling and structured data collection instruments that fit different experiences. The method also enables the researcher to study the specific area of
There are several methods of performing the research. Either way it takes a lot of effort and involves putting together pieces of information from many different sources. Here are a few steps to get started:
The research process is a systematic approach that is carried out with a particular aim or purpose. However, in order to come up to a conclusion based on the objective of the research, the researchers collect a multitude of information that can be analyzed. This is a normal course of action that is applied to all research and evaluation projects, despite of the fact that research method involves a scientific method of inquiry or an evaluation based research or action research.
Research is a process of collecting data and information on a specific topic. The purpose is to use the data and information to prove that the findings may or not agree with the claims. The difference between informal and formal research is the type of information collected. Informal research methods use nonscientific method to conduct their data, such as searching through company’s files, seeking colleagues’ opinion, interviewing the target audience, and conducting a survey. On the other hand, formal research uses scientific methods to conduct their data and it uses up-to-date sources, such as journals, magazines, newspapers, and other online sources. These shows multiple perceptive of the given topic and acknowledging difference problem that needed to be address. Moreover, it also investigates primary sources and search public information manually, which allows it to develop an unbiased understanding of the topic.
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in order. There are two methods used for data collection which is the primary data and secondary data. These data can be obtained and used many ways. The data is taken and analyzed in advance to produce a result that we can use for research and future reference. This study will relate to the objective we want to achieve and finding the answer to every objective we seek. In order to successfully achieve the objectives we seek, we must know
Research is a form of systematic inquiry. It sets out to answer questions through assessing, summarizing and drawing conclusions from what are often very large amounts of information.
There are many research methods used to gain information, but it is important to use the right one to ensure that you get the best results possible.
The behavior was observed from a large sample of people. This included twenty people shopping alone and twenty people shopping in a group, for a total of forty subjects, each ranging in ages from approximately 19 to 40 years old. The subjects were observed from the time they entered the store until the time they left. The reasoning behind this was to see the buying behavior differences for the whole experience and figure out which areas of the store could be improved in order to appeal to groups of people shopping. The behaviors observed included the amount of time spent inside the store, the amount of money spent, the interactions with associates, and the areas of the stores that were navigated.
What I have learned about research is that it is a process, a scientific process that psychologist and scientist develop that includes many different approaches and that is carefully peer reviewed and evaluated. There is what is called the Scientific Approach where scientist have an idea or theory and based on their observation will either support the theory or the theory can be falsified by their peers. Data also goes through a review period before it is published in a scientific journal by scientist who have the knowledge and expertise to evaluate it.
According to Kotler (1996), research is the systematic collection, analysis, reporting of data and findings relevant to a specific situation.
