The story “A Rose for Emily” by William Faulkner was different from “A Good Man Is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor in several ways. When it comes to the use of elements typical of Southern Renaissance in the story “A Rose for Emily” the story is not in chronological order and the author uses the stream-of-consciousness technique. This technique is used in the story when the author jumps from current perceptions and memories. In the story “A Rose for Emily” it starts off talking about when Miss Emily died. As the story progresses it then talks about her life. It talks about what she experienced when she was over 30, and then when you continue to read it talks about what she did when she was about 40.
