Mission San Diego de Alcala was the first of all California missions as well as being California’s first mission church. This historical structure provides an experience and understanding into early american history and the spread of Catholicism throughout the west coast. Mission De Alcala still serves the community today as an active parish and is open to the public to tour the remnants of early life in our state.

In 16th century England, in the midst of King Henry VIII’s separation from the Catholic church, this was a group of Protestants whose goal was to truly purify the Church of England of any Catholic practices. The Puritans believed in predestination. A group of Puritans, called Separatists, chose to leave the Church of England completely and settled in the New England colonies.

This proposal is to help bring to life the Semester on the Appalachain, a semester long expedition on the Appalachian Trail for a group of ten participants, in order to provide an environment that can not be replicated in a typical classroom setting. In the proposal, it will provide research on the benefits of experiential and expedition education, improvement on psychological health, and organizations that run similar programs.

Recently, the Junior Civitan Club held a charter ceremony to officially recognize the club as part of Junior Civitan. This was a very momentous occasion for not only members and sponsors of the club, but for the school as well.

All I knew about Corpus Christi, Texas, before I visited my step-daughter, Michelle, and her family there this summer was that it was a seaside vacation town on the Gulf of Mexico. Today Miss Cortes decided to take the children to Lincoln Park for a family day out. It was Ms. Cortes, Mr. Perez (the children's father), Nicholas, Messiah and Jordan. I met the family in front of Project Home at 6pm and then we walked to Lincoln Park. When we got to the park Mr. Perez left to go to the store to get snacks and water and took Jordan with him. He did not came back until 8:15pm. This left Ms. Cortes to deal with Nicolas and Messiah on her own. Before entering the playground area, Ms. Cortes told the boys they were not allowed to get wet and do not leave the play area. They children all wanted to play on different things at first . Jordan wanted to get on the swing, Messiah wanted to play on the train and Nicholas went over to the sliding board. Ms. Cortes found a breach in the middle of the play ground were she could keep on eye on all of them and left her bags. She walked over to Jordan and pushed him on the wing for a few minutes.
