“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” - Socrates. I believe that Greece was better than Rome because they impacted the U.S. more through entertainment and gods and religion.
One reason I believe that Greece is better is because they have given us great things when it comes to entertainment. First, they gave us the Olympics and this is an event that most countries around the world are involved in still to this day. Every 4 years it bring most of the countries around the world together to play games. It promotes peace through the games because they are brought together to have fun and play games. The soul purpose of the Olympics was to bring countries together, get more money, and provide more jobs. To this day countries are still brought together for these games. Also, I believe that Greece is better because of literature. Because of them we have books and movies wouldn’t be in the context that they are in. The people of Ancient Greece created productions of drama like epics and plays. Some of the epics were “The Iliad” and “the Odyssey”. Some epics that you might know are Harry Potter, The Percy Jackson Series, and The Lord of the Rings. If it wasn’t for the Ancient Greeks we would not have this stuff today. Lastly, they had one of the best philosophers of their time. Aristotle was one the top philosophers of Ancient Greece. The are estimated to be about 200 pieces of his work but most of his stuff was notes and manuscript drafts. Aristotle's work ended up
Imagine you had to choose between two very, very risky places to live in. Well, that is what people had to do 7,000 years ago. The two places are called Sparta and Athens, both had very harsh and violent laws. Trust me we are all very lucky to live in the places we do now compare to these two places. Now on to having to choose between the two, the only reason on why I would choose this place is because of the different laws for the men. Obviously, I would say that because I am a boy. I would rather live in Athens because of how fair the laws are compared to Sparta. There are many laws in Athens that are better than Sparta. One of the laws includes how they rule their kingdom. In Ancient Athens, it was run by the people themselves in the city. All of the citizens in Athens were happy they had that they had that freedom. In Ancient Sparta, there was not much freedom from voting for their rulers. The only reason that is because only a small group of wealthy, powerful men could rule Sparta. There are many more reasons why I think that Athens is better/ fairer.
The Roman government was far superior in the ways it was formed and run not only in their success nut in the Athenians failure.
The reason Rome is better than Athens is because they were superior to their enemies. The Roman Republic was in the Italian peninsula in 509 to 27 BCE. Rome was better than was better than Athens is because they were more uniform in their systems and rules and laws. They both had their Downpoints and their Strengths but Rome still came out stronger.Rome was able to thrive as a more advanced system than Athens because they had a more organized voting system, allowed for equitable rights, and had allowed citizen to actively participation the government.
Rome and Athens were both superpowers during their time and paved the way for modern day western culture. There were a few things that Rome did better though including their citizenship system. The following reasons are why Rome’s citizenship system works better than Athens’. Firstly the Romans allowed a higher number of people to become citizens. The next reason is that Rome made sure that their citizens were playing a role in society. Lastly the Romans had a more organized and efficient senate than that of the Athenians.
The Ancient Greeks have done so much for the western civilizations. Their success in art, philosophy, architecture, science, government, and history have influenced the western civilizations to use their ideas. Many different people came up with different ideas to contribute to their government. New ideas and conclusions were constantly being made because of philosophers asking questions all the time. They really helped shaped Ancient Greece's government.
In my opinion I think Rome's system was better than athens. Rome freely gave citizenship to people. Rome also had a good government that was ran by 300 men for the rest of their life. The roman economy was really organized by social classes. These are tremendous reason why Rome was better than Athens.
Athens and Sparta are the two famous city-states in Ancient Greece. The Athens was more superior then Sparta. The Athenians were stronger because they had a better geography, government, cultural achievements, and I would rather live in the Athens.
Which was better Rome or Greece? Greece for these reasons. Many things from Greece are still seen today. And the Romans borrowed almost all of its mythology from Greece.
Rome is a better system than athens because they are more organized they have a little bit more freedom and the education is better. There's better government they have better rights and there's more citizen ship you also don't need as much as athen..
Ancient Greece is one is one of the most important civilizations in history. Why? Simply because they were the base of many things that we believe in, practice, or build upon today. Some examples are language, architecture, art, science, and much more. Over hundreds and thousands of years technology, agricultural techniques, weapons, and education has advanced and evolved. Many of these ideas not only started within Ancient Greece, but within other ancient civilizations as well. Have you ever wondered what life would have been like if the ideas and inventions that Ancient civilizations had uncovered had not been shared with other societies?
Athens has a better government system then the Roman Republic. some might say the Romans were better. But Athens is more about the people; they are also more secure. They are also carful with who can be a citizen rather then "stingy". They are just more carful.
Greece on the other hand was much smaller with a fraction of the Persian population with around 2-3 million people. Greece was made up of hundreds of small city-states and small settlements while Persia was one absolute monarchy. One way Persia became so powerful was with their rich agriculture while Greece destroyed all of their own rich farmland by causing deforestation and soil erosion. One of the biggest differences between these two states and the one I believe is the most significant was their approach to politics. Persia was controlled by the king and said king was in charge of all politics. Greece was one of the first places to use a system of government where the people managed the affairs and what went on in politics. I believe that this is significant because they both took a completely different approach to
Athens. Ancient Greece has contributed greatly to the modern world, however, Athens had the greatest impact. Unlike Sparta, Athens valued being well-rounded, skilled at many things. We are thanking them for the luxury, comfort, intellect, art, literature, medicine, mathematics, protection, economy, architectural ideas, sciences, music, engineering, philosophies, and more. Their navy outranked every other city-state’s navy.
Athens is a better Greek city to live in than Sparta. Sparta is just a place for war and fighting. They don’t care much about anything. They just leave you when you are an infant and make you join a military school at 7! Athens, however, does care.
In around 428-65 BC, Greece and Rome were both creating new cultural ideals, ways of using government, and built allies to help benefit the country. Both Empires created similar cultures including cities, technology, complex institutions, record keeping and specialized works. Eventually when they began to expand into a vast empires, they had to come up with ways of organizing and obtaining enough resources for their people. This lead to complex trading tactics, forms of government, and social structure. Even though Rome and Greece were both critical to the creation of the United States, Rome was more influential due to the way it trades with other countries, glorified people of certain social positions, and structured its government.
