America, a nation with an Electoral College that so far appointed forty-five men, each one of them possessing a unique background, to the most respectable and highest occupation. Said College consists of representatives from all fifty states who voted these men into the most prestigious position in the country: President of the United States. Throughout the centuries in the United States a variety of men from different political parties and upbringings lead the country in its darkest days and glorious times. Andrew Jackson the first Democratic President of the United States did not act in the same manner or share many similar qualities as the latest President of the same political party, Barack Obama. Which makes sense, due to the enormous gap between the duration of their Presidency and the time each man happened to live through. The lives before the switch of citizen to President and legislation signed as President of the two previously mentioned men above are minimally alike and more so differ. To start with, on March 15, 1767 Andrew Jackson came forth from the …show more content…
One lived an adventurous, racist life where the other broke educational boundaries and achieved unimaginable things for a black man. Despite the clear different events and influences of their respective times the two men are more different than alike. Andrew received little education, fought rigorously in battle, and created the Trail of Tears. Whereas Obama earned a high school diploma, B.A. in Political Science, and passed the bar exam, reached new heights for black men in politics, and pushed DACA in to help those who could not help themselves. So, it exemplifies that the Democrats of yesterday are not the Democrats of today. The difference between President proves how America changed. America moved towards a more progress ideology not only for white men, but for
Andrew Jackson and John Ross both were a part of a different movement. The Proclamation and the letter were both written for a part of the government. The Proclamation was written on December 10th 1832 by Andrew Jackson. The Proclamation was dictated for the people of South Carolina, the attention focused on the issues of the Nullification. As for John Ross, he wrote the letter to the congress discussing the Cherokee nation about the series of harassment that they have endured.
Henry Clay and Andrew Jackson both helped the development of America. Although, they helped they both did it in different ways. They may have had similar ideas but they did not like some ideas that one or he other had. Henry Clay being The Secretary of State wanted the best for the people and Andrew Jackson looked more towards the whole country.
Have you ever gone to a presidential inauguration? Barack Obama and George Washington are two presidents of 45 presidents that were inaugurated and made inaugural addresses for the future of the country. Both presidents talked about their own views, with some similar and others different. They were both elected to office in bad times for the country. George Washington was elected when the United States gained independence and Barack Obama was elected when they were at war with Iran and Afghanistan.
I believe when Jackson compared settlers moving for a better life to removing Indians from their homes he was wrong. He was trying to make it seem it was the same things to prove himself, I believe that was because deep down he knew he was wrong but that did not outweigh the benefits he saw. Jackson uses the term “savage” to refer for the Indian people when the only thing that made them savages was that he did not know who they were. He referred to Christian as “civilized” only because those people were like him. Indians have their own cultures and beliefs.
Over the course of United States history, every president has changed the country in many ways. Some have changed it for the good of the country, and some have changed it for the worse. However, some have changed it in ways disputed whether they are for the betterment of this great nation. One of these many presidents in the infamous Andrew Jackson. During his time in office, he caused many changes. Some even believed that he was abusing his executive power in ways that a king might, they nicknamed him “King Andrew.”
In the history of America, the people have always had a mixed opinions or views with certain presidents on certain bills. Some presidents brought change, while others didn't which shows why not all presidents have a bill with their face on it. But the people have never felt more mixed about a president on a bill until Andrew Jackson took the 20. While Andrew Jackson has made a lot of positive gains in America there is still a lot of negative things and I think he shouldn't be on the bill at all. He has done way more harm than good such as he was still a murderer and a traitor symbol on America because of events he took in such as him making South Carolina stay in the union and pay taxes, him vetoing the pet banks, and he signed for the Trail of Tears.
President Andrew Jackson served as President of the United States from 1826 to 1837 and is looked at my many as one of the best presidents in American history. Jackson was a man without many limits and did what he wanted because he simply wanted to do it, not because it was necessarily the popular opinion or Constitutional. This caused a lot of problems, but also was very beneficial in making solutions to problems in the country. Although, as a result of this, many people saw him as a dictator-like tyrant and didn’t agree with his pandering towards the uneducated, more working class civilians during his campaign. President Jackson’s presidency was controversial as a result in debate over his political tactics as well as possibly overstepping his Constitutional boundaries when it came to the amount of power he exuded on the people; therefore, many people spoke out against his “uneducated followers” as well as his aggressive style while some evidence shows that these efforts were supported.
Some people’s thoughts today with Donald Trump as our new president are additionally, related with the past president, Andrew Jackson. Along with that, there are some minor differences to put them apart but Donald trump is certainly our present-day Andrew Jackson. Based off the New York Times Donald trump and Andrew Jackson both style themselves as “a man of the people”, but the differences still stand. Furthermore, one difference is that Trump is present day and Jackson is past day but the similarities between them are still around.
When most people look for a friend would normally look to someone they met at school, or someone they work with, never a younger sibling, yet I have turned to my younger brother, Jackson, to be my best friend. Jackson and I are very similar and have always had a close relationship. I often catch myself wondering, what would I do without him? I know that I would not have my partner in crime, fishing, and wrestling.
Throughout the years there have been many presidents, but Andrew Jackson was different. He had many different policies, and his personality set him apart from a lot of other presidents. Andrew Jackson was the seventh president but some would consider him to be the first because he seemed so different from others. Andrew Jackson did not have the easiest childhood while growing up, his father had died and his mother had to raise him and his siblings. Through Andrew Jackson’s entire presidency, he endured trials in a different way from the other presidents. Unlike other presidents, Andrew Jackson was a war hero. He loved
Abraham Lincoln assumed the office of the President of the United States 153 years ago. Barack Obama did the same 148 years later. Nearly fifteen decades separate these two historical events and astounding men. While one man has gone to great lengths to model himself after the other, there was possibly a connection there all along. The differences between Lincoln and Obama are evident and expected, but the similarities are remarkable and extraordinary.
Barack Hussein Obama will go down in history as a very illustrious person that has had a major impact on the world. Barack Obama grew up in a middle-class like home and was raised by his maternal side of his family. While the young Obama was excelling in school, he struggled to truly fit in with a certain race, as he was deemed to white for the blacks and too black for the whites. This lead to Obama engaging in questionable activities in his early adolescence, which he eventually cleared up. However, Obama was well aware of the racial split going on and he wanted to be someone that could help fix that. His desire to make a change led him to become the 44th president of the United States, Obama is now the leader of the free world and essentially
Obama was elected to be president back in 2008. He was the first African American to become president. Over the last eight years there has been a lot of changes Obama made. Technology has changed since the last election, the number of internet users went from 1.5 to 2.5 billion that’s a 40%. The number of Facebook users increased from 100 million to more than 1 billion. Another change is the global unemployment rate went up from 5.6% to 6%. More than 200 million people are currently out of work around the world. Poverty rates and inequality have also increased. The United States I still the largest economy in the world but in Obamas term china has over taken japan as the world's second largest economy. Programs like the president’s emergency
For many years, American Presidents were viewed as being white and powerful leaders. Why were they only white? Is it because Americans felt Blacks were not smart enough to run a country on their own? African Americans were viewed as less dominate people and have been discriminated because of the color of their skin. In 2008, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States making him the first black president ever. In this paper, I will discuss how Barack makes a change and if America can accept him as our first black president.
Both of these presidents, former and current, have opinions on what America should be moving towards, to better the country. These presidents have both done their fair share for this country already, though Trump has only been in office for a year, while Obama has been in office for a full term, then was re elected for another. They both, though, like all things, have many similarities and differences, these things are likely affected by their party, and mindset, along with their personality. For instance, Obama is apart of the Democratic party, while Trump is apart of the Republican party, making their outlook on America and things like taxes and abortion, different. Differences
