“Americans are not a perfect people, but we are called to a perfect mission.” By Andrew Jackson. As Andrew Jackson said, we are not perfect, but what we work towards is something else entirely. Andrew Jackson was by no means perfect, but he shaped the future as we know it. In retrospect, he was a great military leader, loyal, man of action, founder of the democratic party, a man of his word, and redefined the presidency.
People often wonder if what Andrew Jackson to the very structure of our government and lives makes up for the awful things he did such as the Trail of Tears. Nothing can excuse what he did, but it’s always far better to look at the bright side, and he changed history by making amends to problems and being very forthright in his pursuit for a better world. Andrew Jackson was a great military leader who fought and lead men to battle in the Battle of New Orleans and saving thousands of lives. He was a man of his word, of action, passionate, loyal, confident, and strong-willed.
Being president isn’t just about leading, it’s about changing history, changing the future, putting the people’s needs before your own, and wanting to improve America. Ultimately, he had a short, angry temper, possibly murdered someone, defied the supreme court, was a slave owner, caused a banking crisis, and was very racist against Indians and decreed the Indian removal act which led to The Trail of Tears. Unfortunately, all these things are true. However, he did do many terrible things that can’t be justified and is not the American way, but he did pave the road for a better future.
