This small section of this article will cover how anesthesia has advance throughout the years and who helped to make these advancements’ numerous advancements in anesthesia has benefited a variety of medical fields like surgery, neuro-endocrine surgery, inpatient care, intense car and many others. Anesthesia has not been around for a long time and the earliest drug for pain remained alcohol. In colder climates such Russia there was a way to freeze the affected area to the point where it would be almost pain less. In an article titled “Anaesthesia- a great advancement in Surgery” they said that this method was used during a war in Russia to help with amputees the first example of anesthesia dates to 1772 when it was discovered by Joseph Priesly. …show more content…

As years went by more advancements were made like in 1831 Guthrie, Soubeiran, and Liebig manufactured a substance known as chloroform. This substance could put patients to sleep fast and was first used in 1847 by Dr. James Simpson. This drug was mostly used by the over-all public. Currently this form of anesthesia is use for tons of metical and personal uses and can be found in Some toothpastes and mouthwashes. Another form of an anesthesia advancement was morphine. Morphine is an analgesic drug found from opium that is used for medicinally to release pain. This was a more powerful and faster acting drug that was created in 1804 by Serteriner. In an article titled “Anaesthesia- a great advancement in Surgery” it stated that a long time ago the Inca used coco leaves for a typical anesthetic. Later in 1892 a man named Albert Nieman used coco leaves to create a form of cocaine. This would stop the pain for as long as the substances was used. There is no legal form of cocaine you can get today in the USA for pain, because its very addictive with many side effects. This shows how anesthesia has advanced over the years and how the different drugs are
