During Medical school you must also pass the USMLE, which is a three part test to receive medical licensure in the United States. “It is designed to evaluate a physician's ability to apply the concepts, knowledge and principles that are the foundation of effective and safe patient care.” (“Anesthesiologist: Education Requirements and Career Information”). After your first two years of medical school you will take the first part of the test which is called “Step 1”, then “Step 2” after three years, and finally “Step 3” after receiving a M.D. degree. The clinical training is only during the last three years of residency. The first year of CA training consists of working with faculty instructors who provide basic instruction on the fundamental principles of anesthesia. During the second CA year, you will participate in rotations related to anesthesia subspecialties, including cardiac anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia and regional anesthesia. For the third and final year of CA training, you can choose from advanced clinical training or clinical research (“Anesthesiologist: Education Requirements and Career Information”). The University of Pitt Johnstown has always been on my list. The average room and board of this university is $8,806 and the total tuition is $13,130. An average score on the SAT would be around an 1100 and the average ACT score is averaging around 24 for this institution. When applying, they consider your SAT and ACT scores, your grades from your freshman to senior year, and all of your extracurricular activities. They require a minimum of four years of English, one year of Chemistry, two lab sciences, three academic math courses, two foreign languages, and three social studies. This school caught my interest for the reason that it is an off branch of the University of Pittsburgh, which is known for its accomplishments in pre- medical studies
