What do anesthesiologist do? An anesthesiologist will insert general or local anesthetic into the patients body. During the surgeon does its work the anesthesiologist will be monitoring the body's temperature, blood pressure, and the patients oxygen level. The anesthesiologist also have a nurse at his/her side. The anesthesiologist nurse will take care of the patient after and before the surgery. She will take care that the anesthetic didn't do damage to the patient and if the patient will wake up from the surgery. An anesthesiologist needs to complete his/her bachelor's degree, then he/she needs 4 more years leading to have a degree in medicine when your done receiving your medicine degree you have to wait 4

Ever since I was a child my family asked me what I wanted to be. Answers ranged from princess and astronaut to a fourth grade teacher and an anesthesiologist, but as I got older and had to struggle with allergies and the food I was putting in my body I started paying closer attention to ingredient lists and nutrition facts. Every night I would go home and make a plate for myself that had the right serving sizes of each food group, I would weigh the foods and put them into a calorie and nutrition tracker to make sure that what I was eating was not hurting me instead of helping me. After going back to the doctor to be allergy tested again due to getting hives constantly; I found that pretty much all the foods I had been eating were causing me so much discomfort. All foods that are supposed to be extremely healthy for you such as almonds, celery, watermelon, green beans, and even potatoes turned out to be doing me the most harm. Nineteen full and part-time surgeons split a load of 30-36 operations per day at about 3-4 operations each. Typical operations took only about 45 minutes for initial operations and 60-90 minutes for recurrences which would allow a surgeon to complete their day in time for lunch. You may ask why people would want to do this job. Some anesthesiologist enjoy listening and talking to patients and love to be able to take care of people and help them get better. Becoming an anesthesiologist contains a strong education and being super experienced and this is what makes it such an important job.

In this career, I will be reducing the pain and bodily functions of a human while they undergo surgery or while they are awake. Each day I will be expected to be vigilant of my patients so that none of them suffer from an illness or allergy to a medication given. I will also be monitoring the actions of the patients body to tell whether to reduce a given medication, increase that medication, or provide a new medication that won 't react with the previous medication and will also allow for similar functions of a medication that might otherwise react with the previous medication given. I will also be visiting my patients to check up on them so that I can get a sense from them of what I might need to prescribe to them. Out of all of the functions of an Anesthesiologist, I believe that the hardest one would to be to deal with the pressure of a high-stress situation in the operating room. I feel like the thing that I would enjoy the most, however, would be the feeling that every day I would be saving lives.

Early anesthetics were primitive and many patients simply did not trust anesthetics. Anesthesia is still a risky process even in todays advanced medical world.
