Some duties that veterinarians have to do are examine and diagnose animals’ health problems, treat wounds, perform surgery, and test and vaccinate for diseases (“Veterinarians” para. 11). Diagnosing and treating conditions of animals is the main service of a veterinarian (M, Taylor para. 2). Vets also have to calmly explain the condition of the pet or procedure the pet has to go through to the pet owner (M, Taylor para. 2). Veterinarians have to make the right decision for treating illnesses and injuries of animals (“Veterinarians” para. 39). A vet that works with farm animals like cattle, sheep, and pigs that used to be for food is a food animal veterinarian (“Veterinarians” para. 16). Vets that works with large animals would travel to ranches or farms to do veterinary services to animals (“Veterinarian” para. 3). A companion animal vet is a vet that work and treat pets and work in clinics and hospitals (“Veterinarians” para. 13). If someone wanted to be a research vet, they would have to work in the lab (“M,Taylor para. 3). Many people who want to be a vet have to take a lot of science classes like biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, zoology, microbiology, and animal science (“Veterinarians” para. 29).
