Animal Testing Causes

For many years, the field of science has used animals in medical experiments worldwide, because of this innocent animals are being killed everyday. They are being tested with new drugs, new treatments, and by many makeup companies. Connecticut recently celebrated the passage of the “Beagle Freedom Law”, a law that requires laboratories to work with charities and rescue groups to find homes for research cats and dogs. Animals are being tested so humans do not have to be but animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings, although animals are the closest thing to humans. Most experiments involving animals are flawed, wasting the lives of innocent animal subjects. Over 100 million animals suffer a year from testing. Testing animals is a lot more expensive than alternative methods and it is wasting government research dollars. Animal testing is not only a bad idea, but it is also inhuman and it should not be tolerated. The FDA should stop allowing animal testing. An animal does not give out the same results on a test than a human would.

The Science world evolved greatly throughout the past hundreds of years and animal testing was apart of science even back then. Animal Testing started about 1000 years ago, and it is still used today in today's science (" Animal Testing"). One of the first animal experimentation was from around 450 B.C from a Greek Philosopher Alcmaeon ("Animal Testing"). Animal testing is one of the many ways to find out side effects and solutions to many drugs, medicines and diseases. More than 100 million animals are locked alone in a cage. Doing tests and being forced to take medicines, chemicals and be taken in for experiments (Goodman). Even though the animals might suffer from the drugs and medication, they are used to solve and help cure various diseases.

People probably don 't think this is a big deal, but I am neutral on the subject. But, I do see the wrong and right things that are happening. Thus, animal testing is cruel and inhumane to be experimenting on animals, there are alternative methods available to researchers to replace animal testing, and that animals are so different from human beings that research on animals often yields irrelevant results.

If scientists were to stop testing on animals years and years of research would go down the drain. We would probably never find a cure to Cancer, Ebola, or Polio! These diseases will probably go uncured for hundreds of years if we stop animal testing in our world today. While you think animal testing is cruel there are thorough regulations set in to make sure testing is done in a humane way. Scientists have been able to advance their knowledge in human health animal health 70% of Nobel prizes were won because of animal testing which the scientist who won found a cure to a major disease. It has caused so many animals to suffer and die painful, slow deaths. The animals that are tested are forced to eat adverse substances, inhale harmful toxins, and remain immobilized so they can be utilized for experimentation. Not only do they endure painful procedures, they also suffer from mental abuse. They are locked up in scanty cages at all hours and are neglected by their holders. Animals should have basic moral rights to proper treatment. Another problem is the minimal protection they have with the Animal Welfare Act (“Harm and Suffering”). It allows rats, mice, and birds to be experimented on and consequently these animals make up ninety five percent of the testing population (“Rats”). Animals testing should not be used because it is morally wrong to harm an animal for another's benefit, animals may react differently to certain medication and cosmetics than humans, and there are other ways to do testing that do not include
