It is not often that one sees the gruesome ways of animal experimentation in person. In short, it is the use of non-human animals in labs to find variables that affect the behavior of the human biological system (Google). Many people-like the PETA organization or the Humane Society-oppose these practices, but even this opposition is not enough to stop testing from happening for things such as cosmetics testing, chimpanzee experimentation, and genetically engineered farm animals. Although some of the testing produces positive results-such as a drug working-it is at the expense of millions of tortured animals; therefore, a simple solution would be to prohibit the use of animals in research.

For centuries, the ethics of animal experimentation in the biomedical field have been questioned. Do the benefits of animals used in research outweigh the pain the animals endure? On the other hand, the use of animal research is unethical and the finding of new alternatives may also be even more beneficial than animal testing. Therefore, the medical field should either seek alternatives to animal research or the methods are refined to reduce the unethical treatment towards the animals as subjects.

As the years have passed the human race has come across and discovered many different diseases. Many of the diseases were lethal due to the fact that there was no cure to be found. But as years went on our technology began to “evolve”, we found cures for what many would think are incurable. The practice of using animals in biomedical research has led to significant advances in the treatment of various diseases. Animals would be injected with the disease and through series of tests they created a vaccine to fight off the disease. Many animals are related to humans and share the same emotional status as humans do. There are experiments where dogs are experimented on because they have the closest connection with human emotion because they show an immense amount of emotion themselves. Everyone benefits from animal testing because the cures and vaccines are found and there are no faults in them.

We all need to be aware of the topic animal testing. Animal testing is a worldwide discussion and is always a topic for debate. There are countries that already have banned animal testing, they are European Union, Norway, Israel, and India. The United States, Australia, and New Zealand are considering banning animal testing. The animals being tested on for cosmetics is mice, rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. These animals don’t deserve this kind of treatment. Although there are pros and cons to this issue. Some people say that animals are very similar to us humans. These animals have very similar body types with us with the diseases they get and illnesses. Other people say animals are different than humans and that we aren’t a hundred percent match and it’s unreliable. Overall, people have already taken the action to stop this and there are still people who are still for it and we need to teach them about the pros and the cons of the issue.
