Animal Testing
The topic of animal testing is a widely controversial topic that is discussed by many people. Some people believe that animal testing has contributed to many advancements in medical treatments and should be continued. Others believe, correctly, that animal testing is cruel and inhumane. Animals testing should be abolished because it is cruel to animals and humans are different than humans.
Animal testing can be extremely cruel to animals. The Animals Humane Society has stated that animals that undergo commercial and medical testing, frequently are force fed, deprived of food and water, burned, and physically abused in many other ways. There is a test called the Draize Eye test, that beauty companies use, to test irritation

Many sources have claimed that animal testing has contributed to nearly all medical cures in the last 100 years. For example, in an experiment where dogs had their pancreas taken out, scientists discovered insulin. Animal testing has allowed some advancements in cancer research among other things.
Many years ago, that argument would work. Perhaps in 1921 when they used the animals to discover insulin, or in 1951 when they discovered the polio vaccine and perfected it on animals. These days there are very many different ways to test cures for diseases and other medical experiments. Scientists can use the petri dish method, where they can actually use human cells. If we are making vaccines and cures for human, we should be testing them on humans.
Animals, such as guinea pigs, rabbits, and hamsters, are different than humans in almost all ways possible. These animals anatomy, metabolism, and cellular makeup, are extremely different than human’s. Clinical neuroimaging professors have stated that, they cannot find an animal model that can equate to a human. Also, many Johns Hopkins professors that study toxicology argue against animal tested by saying that we, humans, are not 150 pound
Thanks to them mankind have been saved. Using animals to test in order to find new cures is called animal testing. These experiments or tests use mice, monkeys or other animals. Animal testing is a great thing not only because new medications are discovered but because many human lives have been saved. This is an important thing because it has brought solutions to many human diseases. These amazing tests should also keep going because the. In conclusion, animals that are used make sure that the new medications are safe for people to use. Animal testing should continue in order to save so many people's lives.
Animals make poor test subjects. This statement is a direct contradiction from what proponents believe about how closely related animals and humans are anatomically and biologically, because of the many metabolic, cellular, and anatomical differences between the two species. Using rats for toxicity, for example, must not be accepted as reliable since humans are nowhere close to being 70-kilogram
Animal testing is cruel and inhumane to the animals. We are force feeding them. Forced inhalation. And also, we sometimes are depriving them of food and/or water. This is unfair to the animals who don’t even know what is happening to them.
Animal testing has helped to find many cures and has helped us to find treatments for many diseases that would still be ending lives today if we had stopped animal testing. Kristina Cook from the University of Oxford states “Animal research has enabled us to find treatments for cancer, antibiotics for infections, vaccines to prevent some of the most deadly and debilitating viruses and surgery for injuries, illnesses and deformities.” Also animal research has helped not just humans but animals too. Kristina Cook also stated “Animals also have improved healthcare and a longer lifespan. Farm animals, household pets, wild species and endangered species are all benefiting from the research conducted through animals.” According to the US based, Foundation for Biomedical Research: “Animal research has played a vital role in virtually every major medical advance of the last century - for both human and veterinary health”. These quotes are quotes from scientists and the Foundation for Biomedical Research they show that animal testing has improved our world today and without it we wouldn’t have nearly as many cures as we would
Animal testing has been very useful when it comes to finding life-saving cures and treatments. Many will argue
Many people believe that animal testing has helped our medical research and cures for diseases. But has it really? We are in the twenty-first century and we are still using animals for testing, we have new technology that’s being improved all the time!
All across the united states animal testing is being discussed over. People are discussing the treatment of all different varieties of animal species. The controversy has erupted about how animals are being treated, how we should handle it, and what should be done about it.
Animal testing can be very substantial to humans, it has played a vital part in nearly every medical breakthrough over the last decade. That means without animal testing we would not have insulin which
As others can argue that animal testing is a good thing because it could be essential for research. It has been shown that in some cases animal testing has led to miraculous recoveries. In some cases it has been known that the removal of a dog’s pancreas can create insulin. Another interesting fact is that most people don’t know that rats
For many years, animals have been used as experimental hosts for treatments and products that exist today. These animals are live hosts, making them open to experiencing every torturing pain that is inflicted on them by the experimenter. A majority of animals that are tested on later die. Animal testing does not give accurate results relating to humans. These tests should not be practiced any longer.
As human beings we have developed daily routines that we classify as “normal.” Most of us use a considerable amount of hygiene products each day without putting any consideration into the creation of the merchandise. Have you ever stopped to contemplate how this product was developed and ended up in your hands? To the consumer, it may be just a bottle of shampoo or a tube of mascara – but to animals it is a world of pain. The nature of animal experimentation is erroneous and inhumane. There is an overwhelming amount of scientific evidence that shows there are alternatives to experiments on animals that still benefit medical studies.
Is it really necessary for animals to be used for medical research? This question still remains, yet to be answered. It is a matter of opinion one would think. However if you look closer there is a lot more to it than opinion. People that feel sorry for animals usually are the ones that don’t agree with animal testing. That is where it starts. Scientists use animal testing as a way to find cures. Animal testing helps them figure out what will work and not work on humans. It helps find cures faster and prevent deaths. Although some people believe that is true, I have a different opinion on it all. This testing hasn’t help as many people as you may think.Just because animals are living breathing creatures like humans, doesn't mean their systems are anything like ours. There has been so many tests done on animals to help find cures and medicine that will work on humans. What do we
The California Biomedical Research Association claims that if vaccines were not tested on animals, millions of animals would have died from rabies, distemper, feline leukemia, infectious hepatitis virus, tetanus, anthrax, and canine parvovirus (CBRA). The treatments needed to cure people have been proven to help keep animals healthy from infection and disease, which in this case is a win win situation. The article also mentions that, “treatments for animals developed using animal testing include pacemakers for heart disease and remedies for glaucoma and hip dysplasia,” (CBRA). However, while these look like beneficial statistics, these results don’t change the fact that in most testing animals are being put to death instead of being
Animal testing is a completely unnecessary act of cruelty and should not be allowed for various reasons. It is superfluous for innocent animals to undergo chemical testing of any sort, not only do they suffer, but there are other more humane alternatives to test products. Many people who are in favor of animal testing do not know of these safer more humane alternatives. Many methods have been developed to help stop animal testing, and improve the health system of all human beings.
There is no surprise when we hear that for years humans have used animals in their experiments for the benefit of science, but as humans learned more about the differences and similarities between themselves and animals the experiments have become more evasive leaving the animal being tested on in a deplorable state that usually leads to permanent disability or death. In the process of advancement, new and much more reliable alternative methods of testing have been found. Using an alternative method does not just save the animals but can also save millions of lives in the process. Animals should not be used in tests for scientific research.
