Animal Testing Should Be Banned

For many years, the field of science has used animals in medical experiments worldwide, because of this innocent animals are being killed everyday. They are being tested with new drugs, new treatments, and by many makeup companies. Connecticut recently celebrated the passage of the “Beagle Freedom Law”, a law that requires laboratories to work with charities and rescue groups to find homes for research cats and dogs. Animals are being tested so humans do not have to be but animal tests do not reliably predict results in human beings, although animals are the closest thing to humans. Most experiments involving animals are flawed, wasting the lives of innocent animal subjects. Over 100 million animals suffer a year from testing. Testing animals is a lot more expensive than alternative methods and it is wasting government research dollars. Animal testing is not only a bad idea, but it is also inhuman and it should not be tolerated. The FDA should stop allowing animal testing. An animal does not give out the same results on a test than a human would.

Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, is the use of animals in experiments to test product safety. I believe it is a big problem in our society. Every year at least 2.7 million animals are killed in laboratories in Australia alone and at least thirty-three animals die each second worldwide, due to cruel animal tests. Many companies feel it is okay to test on animals because they are deemed not as physiologically or emotionally complex as humans, but as animal rights supporter, Jeremy Bentham has said, “The question is not, ‘Can they reason?’ nor, ‘Can they talk?’ but rather, ‘Can they suffer?’ and most of the time the animals do suffer.

Animal testing has been used since the BC years, and it is used to understand and compare how things might affect the human body. In 1937, a pharmaceutical company released a drug that was poisonous to humans unknowingly. It ended up poisoning many people, and resulted in several deaths. After this incident, experiments on animals became more important in the medical world (Hajar, Rachel). Animal testing should be illegal, because it is unfair, inhumane, and morally wrong.

Everybody also can not deny that humans have tried a lot of ways to improve the life’s environment for laboratory animals in order to repay and respect what laboratory animals have done for humans. For example, humans put the efforts to build the wild environment in the lab room and maintain the breed for them. Or humans just use the animals who have a short reproduction. In addition, humans also attempt to find the method which can replace animal testing. Although humans can not save animals’ rights by banning animal testing, humans try reduce the pain for animals when we apply the anesthetics in animal dissection, “Mice were anesthetized with isoflurane and exposed to it intermittently during the grafting procedure”(Ahn). Humans piecemeal understand the feeling of laboratory animals, so humans will never stop finding a new method in order to create the benefit for animals and good effect for animal testing.

It is estimated that each year over 100 million animals in the United States are used for animal testing (ProCon.org, 2017). This is unlikely an underestimate as it is impossible to receive a correct count worldwide. Thousands of animals are to be euthanized from the complications they endure from testing. Animals are used to test scientific developments and commercial products. New medical and non-medical experiments are tested on animals to verify the harmfulness of new medications or the safety of a product that will be used on humans. Although the importance of animal testing brings more medical advancement over the years using fewer humans in experiments, it is still an expensive way of researching inaccurate results and at the same time, it is a practice of animal cruelty.

Protesting has been going around the world for many of years. Throughout many years of people boycotted agents a situation they believe, if a wrong or right. One of the biggest areas on where people gather around and protest is when they’re fighting agents animals testing. As well as the years has pasted on protesting on animals, it became more sires in increased in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Many cosmetics companies been testing on animals throughout the years there is also many that have not. The cosmetics line LUSH has been fighting over animals testing for over thirty years and will continue to fight for their right according to the company. When LUSH had first started the company had divided they didn 't ever wanted to test their product on animal. Not only fighting agents animals testing LUSH is also ego friendly; everything they use its plants, oil, and recycle. Since LUSH having to be agents animal testing, policies had created to work with the companies of cosmetics to end the cruelty of animals. The LUSH company say “ This can be done without animal testing …” and it true. LUSH is a company that all there product dills with ones skin to make them fell and look beautiful. If LUSH can test their products other than animals and still make your still looking good then, other cosmetics companies can do the same.

Animal testing is taking living animals to “test new drugs to infecting with diseases, poisoning for toxicity testing, burning skin, causing brain damage, implanting electrodes into the brain, maiming, blinding, and other painful and invasive procedures”(“Harm and suffering”). Those in favour of animal testing believe that human beings and animals share similar illness, and thus animals can serve as valid models for studying human illness. They also contend that it can develop and find medical treatments to treat diseases. However, there are studies that reveal that the research based on animals are inaccurate, and the treatment of the animals at times are inhuman. In essence, animal testing should be banned because it is unethical to kill or harm animals for human’s own goods, will cause more harm than good, animal and human are different which the tests are not relevant to human and there are other techniques that can replace animal testing.

Animal testing is using non-human animals to be test subjects in an experiment. Scientist use animals to try and help find cures for different diseases and cancers in humans. People are against animal testing because everyday animals are dying in a science lab. The laboratory is a cruel place for a innocent animal. The world should be against animal testing because, Animals are different from humans, it can be wasteful if the experiment does not work, alternatives can be used instead of animals and it is extremely inhumane
