As far as the curry goes, I have always been a fan. Growing up in an Asian household with eight other siblings, curry was a no-brainer. You can make as much, or as little as you want. The good thing is, it can all be made in the same pot one step at a time. When you have a family as big as mine, one pot is not going to feed the entire family. Although, my mom always seems to manage it somehow.

The recipe shown was a test recipe by my sister Anim. Overall, it turned out better than expected. Earlier in the week, we had Chicken Tikka Masala from an Indian restaurant nearby. It did not taste that great. More importantly, we paid $15 for a plate that looked as if it was leftover from who knows when. With that said, we decided to write down the ingredients that was listed on their menu, and set out to test it out for ourselves to see if we can make it taste better than
In Japan it is served with a tonkatsu sauce, shredded cabbage, rice and/or miso soup. It is also commonly served with rice and a silky curry. In a typical Hawaiian plate lunch chicken katsu is served with a scoop of macaroni salad and rice.
Grandmas chicken and dumplings, start with 5 cups of flour into a mixing bowl. Add a table spoon of salt, a half a cup of lard. Knead the flour until you can form it into a ball. Put it on a cutting board and roll the dough out. Cut into two by two square shapes and put that aside. Then they prepare the chicken by putting a 2.5-pound chicken into a crock pot, cook for 6 hours on low. The broth from the chicken is added to another pot, and remove the chicken from the bones and add this chicken to the pot with the chicken broth. Let that simmer, when it starts to boil add the dumplings that were previously cut out. Stir the mixtures together for about fifteen minutes, then the dumplings are ready to be served. What I do, I buy a can of buttermilk
Stir it 3 cups chicken and reserve the remaining chicken for another use. Season the soup with salt and pepper. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

This recipe has such unique and flavorful characteristics. Although I thought the consistency of the sauce would be thinner, the texture came out to be a little thicker and softer than expected. It had very appealing colors, including the orange form the tomato sauce and the green from the cilantro. I really enjoyed every aspect of this dish. The combination of flavors from the shrimps, cassava, and coconut
The typical meal I chose to represent is called Morue and its origins is from the Haitian ethnicity. Morue is a meal usually eaten at dinner time alongside Sauce Pois Rouge (red pea soup) which is served with rice, and drank with Ginger & Cinnamon tea. To make Morue, you need: 1 lb. of salt cod (morue), water as desired, 1 small diced shallot, 1 small diced onion, 1 cup of olive oil and 1 hot pepper. To prepare this meal, “add the cod in a saucepan and cover with water. Let boil over medium-high heat. Drain the cod and soak in cool water. Shred the boiled cod. Drain and set aside. In a skillet, heat the oil and sauté the remaining ingredients. Add the cod and sauté lightly for 2-3 mins (Recipes, 2014).”
In American culture, we typically center our food choices around american options such as burgers, fries, chicken fried steaks, and chicken tenders. However, I decided to seek out a food from a culture that differs than my American background. I sought out a restaurant that served and Indian cuisine and one that I wouldn’t usually try. I decided Indian for the reason that I love spice in food and the spice that the Indian culture uses in their food should really compliment the food. The restaurant that I found was called Taco Naan, which combines cultures and serves food that cater to Mexican and Indian cultures.

At the beginning of my exploration of this country I was made to taste all kinds of food available here. Though there were limited choices as I am a vegetarian but still I tried every food which was considered delicacies here. Among those were ‘PIZZAS’. Not that I had not had pizza in India but they had an Indian flavor. But when I took the first what is so appealing about this piece of dough with just a citrus sauce for flavor and a lump of cheese to make it tempting. It did not excite my ‘INDIAN TASTE BUDS’ which was accustomed to have different flavors in just one bite of food whether it be sweet, salty, bitter, tangy, spicy. It was not a delicacy for me; neither does it water my mouth since then.
The curry puffs were a famous snack enjoyed by the locals, both young and old. The aroma of the curry puff is irresistible. The snack consists of curry potatoes, sliced eggs and chicken. This snack is also ‘Halal’, hence, the Muslim locals can enjoy it too.

In India, fast food culture emerged in the decades after independence, starting from the 1950’s. Eating at home used to be a significant aspect of Indian culture, so the change was gradual. Over a period of time, with a growth in the number of nuclear families, economic growth and increasing per capita income as well as globalization, fast food culture gained prominence. Women were shifting from their conventional roles of managing the household and taking care of the children. With growth in
