The Life of Anna Netrebko
Soprano opera singer, Anna Netrebko lives a life that was destined for greatness from the very moment she chose to dream. She became one of arguably best opera singers not only due to chance, but also due to her distinctive voice that separated her from the rest. She grew from obscurity to becoming an extremely successful soprano known all over the world, performing all over. Her life is an interesting one that deserves better insight in how she became as famous as she is now.

Her second debut was with the Royal Opera House in 2000, performing Prokofiev's War and Peace as Natasha; Anna performed the same opera with the Metropolitan Opera in her third debut in 2002. A year later, her fourth debut was with the Los Angeles Opera, performing in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor. During the years 2004 through 2008, Netrebko won a staggering total of seventeen awards as she debuted around the world. A great amount of them were "Best Female Singer of the Year" to "Best Music DVD Production of the Year". Six months after the birth her son in 2008, Anna debuted in Bellin's I Capuleti e I Montecchi as Giulietta. From 2009 to 2011, she won awards spanning from "Best Opera Recording of the Year" to awards praising her performances in operas. Her latest debut in somewhat recent years was back in 2013 when she performed at the Lyric Opera of Chicago in Puccini's La Bohème acting as Mimi. Anna measured 20.5 inches and weighed 7 lbs 14 oz .Her name honors her father’s grandmothers. Grandparents are John and Carol Sessock and the late Robert and MaryAnn Nowak of Freeland. Katherine Tekakwitha, known to Catholics as St. Kateri Tekakwitha and called by them the “Lily of the Mohawks,” was born at Ossernenon (now Auriesville, New York) in 1656. Her mother, Tagaskouita, was an Alqonquin native American and a Christian. Her father, Kenneronkwa, was a Mohawk chief and followed traditional native practices. She received her given name of “Tekakwitha” (which means “she who bumps into things”) after a bout with smallpox when she was four damaged her eyesight and scarred her face. The epidemic ravaged the Mohawk population around Ossernon until 1663 and claimed both her parents and brother. Tekawitha was adopted by an aunt and her husband, chief of the Turtle clan. The survivors relocated to Caughnawaga (“wild water” in Mohawk) two miles upstream on the Mohawk river.
