Anne Frank and her family hid out in an annex during the Holocaust, in fear of getting sent to concentration, or work camps or even killed. They didn’t expect to have to stay in the small attic space for long, but they ended up having to stay there for 25 months. They had set up a few people to help them that could get ration books to get them food, considering there was 8 people living there. The relationships were affected when, “The radio… The B.B.C.! They said they landed on the coast of Normandy! British, Americans, French, Dutch, Poles, Norwegians… all of them! More than four thousand ships! Churchill spoke, and General Eisenhower! D-Day they call it!” Hacket, 181. This impacted the drama because Mrs. Frank was about ready to kick out Mr. Van Daan because he stole food, but when they Miep spreads the news of D-day their relationship changes and she gives him a hug, completely forgetting and forgiving him. Hacket, 180. As Mrs. Frank says, “[going to Mr. Van Daan] Didn't you hear what Miep said? The invasion has come! We’re going to be liberated! This is a time to celebrate” Just before they got the news of D-Day, Mrs. Frank was about ready to kick out Mr. Van Daan, but once they heard the news she completely forgave him and was willing to look past it. This is a major change in relationship for them because she was hating him and then she was back to normal and rejoicing him. This is just one way the relationships were changed throughout the drama. There are many ways historical events changed the drama, the diary of Anne Frank. Two major ways that changed it were the changes in the mood and relationships throughout the drama. The mood of the story changed when the Franks and the others were in the annex and they heard marching feet on the street below, which caused them to go into a sort of panic
Changes happen to all of us. The change may be good or it may be bad. We all experience changes and the changes reflect how we think, act, or talk in society. Every change is different and every change has different outcomes. In The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank change quite a lot throughout the story. She was very different from everyone else who hid with her in the annex, in good ways and bad ways. As she grows, she changes her personality, her mentality, and, most importantly, her emotions. She wanted to be respected and didn’t want to cause trouble, even though she did. As time went by, she started to change her emotions and felt more empathy.
In the late 1930s and early 1940s the world experienced very traumatic events. Adolf Hitler comes to power in Germany. He banned all political parties, except the Nazis. Two of the families that were affected by his changes were the Franks and the Van Daans. Anne Frank was a member of the Frank family. Her family and the Van Daans experienced what was happening personally. During the time that she was forced to go into hiding, she kept a diary with her. The diary has become very important item for learning about the events that happened. Historical events are reflected in the play “The Diary of Anne Frank” by showing how what’s happening in the outside world affects the families that have had to go into hiding.
The Diary of Anne Frank is a remarkably moving book about the short life of a young girl and her family. The Holocaust was a horrible time for Jewish people and Anne and her Jewish family’s lives were completely turned upside down as a result. The war resulted in the deaths of countless people, mostly innocent people. Before the invasion on D-day and the end of the war not too long after, the rest of the world didn’t know the real disaster going on over seas. Anne Frank’s once secret diary has introduced the immense suffering and horror that occurred during the Holocaust.
Many people were hurt by Adolf Hitler's plans and one thing he achieved was killing six million Jewish people including children. Anne Frank and her family were one of them. They lived in a secret and tiny annex where Otto used to work. They started off just going to stay there for a few months till the Allied Forces could invade Holland but that didn’t work out. In the drama wrote by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett eight people crowded into annex for 2 long years not being able to go outside. Many historical events were impacted in the drama Anne Frank. Even though these problems took place outside of the secret annex it changed the mood and relationships of the character.
The Play of the Diary of Anne Frank starts out in the annex in the warehouse in Amsterdam, Holland where Anne Frank and seven others hid out during World War II. It opens with Otto Frank and Miep Gies standing in the annex alone in 1945. Mr. Frank had just come home from the concentration camps, being the one survivor from the annex. After conversing for awhile, Miep hands Mr. Frank Anne’s diary from the days of living in the annex. He starts to read the book, as it slowly flashes back to 1942 when it all began…
Mr. Frank was willing to help the Van Daans, a family of 3, in their time of need during the Holocaust by letting them hide with him and his family of 4 in the Secret Annex. Mr. Frank would also in the future let a man by the name of Mr. Dussel stay with them as well. Mr. Frank knew this would mean less food and less soap and really less of all daily essentials needed for each of
Millions of jews died in the era known as the holocaust, the franks were forced into hiding cause of it. Anne frank and here family spent 25 months into hiding to avoid the Nazis. The whole frank family and their friends hid until the allied forces could liberate Holland. As time passed many historical events that occurred the annex influenced the moods and relationships of the characters.
One of the events being represented in Anne Franks Diary is D-Day. Which was a horrendous and tragic event that occurred during the Holocaust. On D-Day our allies arived on Normandy. Which was a beach north of France. While they were unloading they were ambushed by German troops hiding in rooms with heavy artilery. That day the allies lost many of their troops to the terrible ambush but eventully able to push through and take down the German troops. When this invasion occurred all the Jews jumped and cheered with relief that finally the allies have attacked. "Did you hear that, everybody? Did you hear what I said? The invasion has began! The invasion!"(Goodrich and Hackett 179). This quote marks the first attempt of the allies invading Germany. This affected Anne's family in a positive, and happy way because it gave them hope that maybe the war would be over soon. Which sparks hope for all the Jewish people either in hiding or in a concentration camp that they could possibly be saved. There were many more then just one event such as D-day for instance the Numerburg Laws.
Even though I’m sure they still love each other, they don't like each other as much. When they moved into the secret annex they didn’t have a strong dislike for each other, but now all they do is argue over unimportant things. “Mrs. Van Daan- You know what your father says. [She sits on the couch, sewing on the lining of her fur coat.]Peter- For heaven's sake I haven't even looked at him since lunch. Mrs Van Daan- I'm just telling you that's all. Anne-I'll feed him, Peter-I don't want you in there. Mrs. Van Daan- Peter!” That just goes to show that even feeding a cat is driving a family apart. Living in confinement has changed this family, and the others they are
Mrs. Frank Has short hair and she love to wear her hat. She don’t anybody messing with her diary she was crazy about her diary. I would think her extraordinary in her vitality, optimism, hunger for knowledge, and creativity. Anne changed in many ways over the two years she was writing and Anne probably have something really in common Anne Frank was her diary. Some of these changes can be described as “growth.” She became an astute observer of politics, and of human nature, and she became a very practiced and well-educated writer. Many of her diary entries suggest a mind mature past her years, and we forget we are reading the work of a teenager. When Anne starts talking about her love life, things can get a little confusing, especially when it comes to the multiple Peters. Anne has just turned thirteen when we meet her. She has boys on the brain. She tells us, “You’re probably a little surprised to hear me talking about admirers at such a young age” (6/20/1942). Before she goes into hiding, she has a time-consuming
There were many arguments, a lot of tension and disagreements. Mr.Van Daan one of the members living in the secret annex was found to be the most difficult to live with. He’s really selfish and disrespectful towards everyone. Mr. Van Daan sees a problem in everything.
During WWII, many people may have changed from the time the war began, to the time that it ended. These changes can range from being happy at first, to being depressed at the end of the war, or visa versa. In The Diary of Anne Frank, written by Albert Hackett, many characters evolved throughout the play. One character in particular was Mrs. Frank. In fact, she changed in many ways.
One historical event that impacted the mood in a serious way, was when they were all arguing and mad with each other, and then Miep rushes in and tells them some good news. Before they found out the news Mr.VanDaan got caught stealing food. Mrs.Franks response was, “No! No! No more talk! I want them to leave!” Hackett page 177. They all thought it was rats, but they soon found out it was Mr.VanDaan. Mrs.Frank couldn’t handle it anymore so she want the VanDaan family out. Right after that Miep comes rushing up to tell them that the invasion has indeed begun. “Did you hear that everybody? Did you hear what i said? The invasion has begun! The invasion!” Hackett page 179. They were all so surprised and consequently they forgot what they were arguing
Adolf Hitler negatively affected millions of people by putting his plan to get rid of Jews into action. They were taken, killed, starved, and put into forced labor during the era of the Holocaust. As horrific things were happening to the Jews in Amsterdam, Anne frank and her family were hidden in the secret annex, for what they thought would be a couple months. However, they did not know that 8 people would be crammed in the small annex for 25 months, praying that they would make it until they were liberated. There were many historical events involving the Jews that took place outside the secret annex, but they still affected the mood and behavior of the characters in the drama.
During the devastating time of World War II, a Jewish teenage girl wrote a diary about the gruesome events she witnessed, this diary was named, Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank. Anne Frank lived in Holland and went into hiding when her sister, Margot, got a letter to go to a reception camp. The Franks faced terrifying moments during hiding. They witnessed war outside their window and stayed in the same house without even going outside for about two years. To add on, the Franks had to keep in mind how every day they could be arrested or even die. Sadly Anne and her family are arrested and are sent to Auschwitz, a concentration camp where she would later die. While in hiding, the Franks and the Van Daans, who were also in hiding with them,
