Hundreds of thousands of people die each year due to preventable conflicts. In times of conflict a little positive thinking and optimism can go a long way. In both Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl and Dear Miss Breed young people have a positive attitude that helps them get through hard times. Mediation is also a great way to help both sides of a conflict come to an agreement that is best for both of them. Conflict is not always a bad thing, for example, it can help grow a person's wisdom. The Mayo Clinic says, “When your state of mind is generally optimistic, you're better able to handle everyday stress in a more constructive way” (Mayo). If you are optimistic you are better equipped to deal with life and all its challenges. Anne Frank’s diary helped share the daily life of a Jewish person during the holocaust. Even though she didn’t survive, she educated millions of people about how bad the holocaust was (Frank). Finally, conflict can teach people a lot about how to deal with everyday situations.
