Anne Frank was born on June 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany, she was the daughter of Otto and Edith Frank. Anne and her sister Margot grew up in Germany, but before World War II Anne Frank and her family went into hiding in Amsterdam for two years. During World War II Adolph Hitler killed nearly six million Jews.

Before WW2, Anne attend two school’s; Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam and Jewish Lyceum. Anne was born on June 12,1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. She was the child of Otto and Edith Frank. Anne was their second daughter, after her older sister Margot. In 1935, the Franks moved to Amsterdam due to Hitler taking over Germany. Anne never really paid much attention to what was happening with the jews, but one thing she did notice was the racism that was showed in school. On May 10, 1940,

On August 4, 1944, Anne Frank and the other seven inhabitants living in the annex were arrested by the German Gestapo. Their secret about living in the annex was exposed by an anonymous tip, that led to their arresting. The anonymous tip also led the Gestapo to arrest two office workers that were helping the members of the annex live. The two office workers were sent to Amersfoort Camp, which was located in the Netherlands. Fortunately, one of the office helpers was released after the arrest. The other helper escaped after 6 months of being confined in the camp. As for the members of the annex, they were all transported to Camp Westerbork, located in Northeastern Netherlands. The members of the annex arrived to the camp four days after the arresting, on August 8, 1944.

Her thoughts and her style of writing were affected by the ordeal that she went through. When she first obtained her diary, she wrote about her life in Amsterdam and her “boyfriend” Harry Goldberg. “It’s easy to see that Harry is in love with me, rather fun for a change” (Frank 7/3/42). As time passed by, she started to write about more mature concepts, such as the war. “Every night hundreds of planes pass over Holland on their way to German cities, to sow their bombs on German soil… As for us, we’re quite fortunate. Another thing that changed was her writing style. Before, she wrote in a simple manner. “Now I must stop. Bye-bye, we’re going to be great pals!” (Franks 6/14/42). The Diary of Anne Frank conveys the story of a fourteen year old Jewish girl’s life in hiding during the Holocaust through the pages of a journal she had received as a gift from her father. Anne Frank acquired her diary on her fourteenth birthday and spent every day recording the struggles and events of the time, her feelings and her emotions. After Miep Gies, a Dutch woman who hid Anne Frank and her family from the Nazi’s, discovered Anne’s diary, she gave it to her father after Anne died in a concentration camp. Publishing of her diary took place years later and one of her most inspirational quotes, which encouraged so many people to be wonderful and have positive hearts, was written in this publication. Anne was only thirteen years old at the time. Anne got her diary during the month of June 1942 Anne was so eager to get started.

They lived with another family, the Van Danns, you could imagine living in a small house with another family could cause conflict.
