Books or stories affect people in different ways, many of them being happy because everyone lives happily ever after. Very rarely do I get affected by books, and the Story of Anne Frank is one of them. This poor Jewish girl, has to hide away with seven other people, three of them being her actual family members. Mrs Vandaan was one of the many people living in that annex. In some way shape or form I connected with this character on an emotional level. She showed me that there is more to life than buying the most expensive clothing, and how to care for people. Just as she cared for her husband and son. When Anne dropped milk on her fur coat, it showed me that I should forgive, even if it seems like it could never be forgiven. Even if it was a coat from my father. Anne’s life became the opposite of a “normal kids” life, when she had to go into hiding. This I find cruel and unfair, she should be able to go play outside and hang out with friends. Yet she can’t, and it’s all because of a religion. When she’s in this annex she is getting skinnier and skinnier by the day because they have so many people, and not a surplus of food. This cruel, for this girl and her family to have to go through this. It makes me even more upset because of my german heritage. World War 2 was caused because of Hitler and his desire to make the perfect race. This meant getting rid of the Jews, why this group of people I don’t know, but it’s still unfair.
