These signs or symptoms can be observed throughout the time Annie spends at the swim meet. Annie leaves the locker room and notices that her blurred vision and eyestrain that she had been experiencing over the past month had returned. She continued to exhibit health issues on her way leaving the building because she had felt the need to gasp for air while walking up the stairs. This abnormal amount fatigue she had felt from walking up the stairs, concerned Annie enough to consider getting her signs and symptoms checked out. Both operations occurred under the helm of President Reagan, who outlined a clear agenda, promising to fight the spread of the Soviet social influence of communism. Moreover, other similarities are observed between the two covert missions, like providing armaments, equipment, and training to foreign rebel forces to assist in combating communist influences (National Security Archive 2006, Johnson 2011). Moreover, various government agencies were used in the operations for distinct purposes. “Glory” and “Scandal”, or in other words, Mary and John, two characters from the novel “The Secret Lives of Sgt. John Wilson” who fall in love but eventually end their relationship on a tragic note. Many events occurred through-out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell madly in love, the transition into John becoming more of a ghost than a husband, then a more twisted unforeseen plot that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the characters in the novel, plus the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main contributor as to why I love this book. Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by scandal and deceit, then ended in a most unspeakable way.
