The authors of the article I chose “Childhood Sexual Abuse, Distress, and Alcohol-Related Moderation by Drinking to Cope” were Kathryn Z. Smith, Phillip H. Smith and Emily R. Grekin. And their hypotheses was “childhood sexual abuse would be associated with distress, but that this distress would only be associated with problem drinking among those who scored high on coping motives for drinking”. Found on page four of ten. They started with the hypothesis that distress would mediate the pathway between childhood sexual abuse and problem drinking. Also that the pathway between distress and problem drinking would be moderated by coping motives for drinking. They used path analyses to examine the moderated-mediation.

The Rise in Mental Health in the United States: Comprehending the Past and Moving Forward, Especially in Youth

Decreased percentage of maturity, and the ones that did mature did so abnormally increasing the odds for the birth defect down syndrome.

The main purpose of this article is to examine various research on the etiology of stuttering. The experimental research explored various brain circuitries involved, specifically the the basal ganglia. Furthermore, the meta-analysis discussed neuroimaging, lesion, pharmacological, and genetic studies on the neural circuitries connected to persistent developmental stuttering and acquired neurogenic stuttering.

Annotated Bibliography Less Than Human: The Psychology of Cruelty, by David L. Smith, article excerpt, St. Martin Press LLC, 2011. David Livingstone Smith in his article titled, “ Less Than Human: The Psychology of Cruelty,” he claims that defining and describing dehumanization is key to understanding how people are capable of doing horrible things to others by beginning to demean them and thinking of them as animals and supports his claim by giving evidence of the consequences of those who have been dehumanized and treated as subhumans. Smith’s purpose is to persuade the reader to believe that demeaning and treating others as less than human makes anyone capable of killing or harming others in order to make many aware of the dangers of viewing

A longitudinal study conducted by Rofey et al. (2009) assessed the relationship of childhood depression and anxiety to weight gain. The purpose of this study was to examine the "relationships between mood disorders and weight in children" (Rofey et al., 2009 p.524).

According to the executive vice president for Mattel International, the dangerous levels of lead paint came from the subcontractor of a vendor that did not use certified paint. The subcontractor has been associated with this company for 20 years. Eckert said Mattel has changed the way it attaches magnets to its toys to make them safer. These recent statements mark the latest in a series of recalls of defective products made in China, which is the second-largest trading partner of the United States after Canada. Incidentally, China produces 80 percent of the world 's toys. To prevent these problems from recurring, Nord said the Chinese manufacturers are coming to Washington, D.C. this fall for product safety training sessions (CNN, 2007).

Recently, the company commissioned Chinese companies to produce some of its toys. These Chinese-made toys were suspected of containing harmful aspects for children such as magnets which could be swallowed by children, hazardous lead paint, and plastic ignition key that kids can sit on or fall.
