The use of social media marketing has become a standard way in which organizations advertise their products or services. Social media marketing allows consumers to have immediate access to other consumers reviews or to post a review about a product or service. There is engagement between the company and the consumer (Evans, Dave 2010). Social Media emerged in the late 1980’s when websites such as Prodigy, Compuserve and America Online. Prodigy was first of it’s kind and was known as a ”consumer online service”. Half of the page is devoted to advertising. Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Hi5, Bebo and Orkut are all social media platforms that are utilized as platforms today.

The children of Uganda are being kidnapped from their families to be soldiers and sex slaves by the Lord’s Resistance Army.One by one, people are trying to find Joseph Kony and stop the Lord’s Resistance Army. Using social media, can change the world. Within one week of being uploaded, millions of people had viewed and shared the video. The video was recognized so much, that the New York Times got ahold of it. The news of Kony 2012 traveled across the world to Australia. The Invisible Children wanted the news to be spread, in hopes that the viewers would turn to the United State’s government to take a stand. The video starts out with clips of life changing moments and events. Kony 2012 shows sad and happy videos to get the viewer engaged. Next, the film explains how many people are on social media today and how quickly this story can be shared around the world. Social media is a powerful weapon that can be used for good and bad. Social Network Theory, as we know it today, refers to the structural analysis of social relationships between people, based on systematic empirical data (Marsden, 1990).
