In the workshop, the professor talked about how to annotate. In the past, when I read, I seldom took notes; therefore, I easily forgot what I read. Also, I did not pay much attention to vocabularies. I did read a lot of books and articles, but my writing skills did not improve. Annotation is a more effective way of reading. By annotating while reading, I am able to learn new vocabularies, sentence constructions and writing strategies. It is also easier to understand the argument of the writers, because the thesis, topic sentences, and evidence are all included in my notes.
Annotating: This is where you essentially document your conversation with the piece--in other words, you keep track of your thoughts (what you are actively thinking as you read). Make
“To enable a conversation over the world’s knowledge.” Hypothes.is’s slogan represents exactly what the actual annotating platform does; it is a collaborative speech forum that connects people and their ideas from around the world. After using Hypothes.is on two different occasions, I have realized the ease and accessibility that the online software fosters. It revolves around the central ideas of knowledge and community. With the rise in technological advancements, it seems that Hypothes.is is new way to annotate articles using technology. Rather than the traditional pen and paper, Hypothes.is uses the internet and an innovative collaborative tool which enables users to read peer annotations and write their own.
I am Steven Gerads from period 3, and I submitted the wrong assignment for the Annotating/Kami assignment. Turnitin.com is not allowing any late/resubmission anymore. If there is anyway I can resubmit the correct assignment I would gladly take the opportunity, but If not I will take this score since it was entirely my mistake.
The general purpose of both authors is to provide a resource that defines, states the purpose of, and explains annotating. "How and Why to Annotate a Book" and "Beyond the Yellow Highlighter: Teaching Annotation Skills to Improve Reading Comprehension" are both titles that explicitly state the author’s purpose. Otten provides steps and tips for students to inform them how and why they should annotate, whilst O’Donnell gives a more in depth analysis of the importance of annotating. She also writes to persuade her
(While the Annotation, Using the Rubric describes the scorer’s explanation for the rubric score, the Instructional Annotation describes how the response might be improved.) The reader answers in note taking style but does offer 3 equally matched comparisons though the comparisons lack text support. Specifically, the notes that Jeremy "doesn't like work" or "slacks-off" are not supported by text. With Nathan, the note that he "does like work" is the opposite of text details.
I am glad you were able to find information redarding your topic. I ran into a few issues, but I shortened my rearch to just two or three words and was able to find sources. I like how you mentioned that it made your thesis statement stronger. I feel that the annotated bibliography strengthed mine as well. If I wasn't able to find creditable sources I would have changed my thesis statement. I will be adding the annotated bibliography to my writing process for persuasive/research writing.
Tie to audience: Why is it important to know how to annotate a book properly ? That is because of how Common Core standards want us to be able to read and comprehend passages independently and if you to go to English 2A or English 3 Honors, annotating would become a necessary skill to have. Even later on
Based on what previously cited, it is plain, that reader's annotations is really an expression of his personality traits. Indeed, we show very plainly that the considered annotation features in our study may appear insignificant in themselves, but, they are nevertheless all very significant as indications of the annotator's personality
Annotation: The Third Level In this story, Charley is a man who sees himself as an ordinary man. One day, after work, he decides to take the subway home instead of the bus and winds up getting lost in Grand Central Station. He finds himself on what he describes as “the third level” of the Station and is perplexed as to what he is seeing. People are dressed differently and his surroundings are those of a time before him.

It was not hard to find a job as a PA but it depends on each person’s values and requirements in the job category, it may take longer to find a good suitable place to work. She thinks that it is important to find a good fit with team members, or establishments and clinical setting. Patterns for College Writing effectively breaks down the steps to the active reading process. Each step was explained in depth and after reading this, I’ve learned the importance of annotating while reading.
As a potential administrator who is employed in an urban educational setting there are several organizational changes that would apply to the environment I work in. The Middle school that I am currently employed is located in the Metro area of Jackson Mississippi. The school has a total student body of 460 students, 47 teachers, and staff workers. There are 146 sixth graders, 156 seventh graders, and 152 eighth graders in the school. The majority of the student population is African American, with a less than 5 % ratio of Caucasian, Hispanic, and other races. Academically the school currently has an F rating, which will place the school in school improvement if nothing changes soon. The school urban location has
Does Spears have any interesting new annotation suggestions that I should try? For each comprehension and writing skill I learn something that I should try, for Annotating is good to ask questions
Why are some texts seen as more challenging than others? Readability is the critical ingredient to clear writing and therefore effective communication. One way to measure readability is the Fog Index. In 1944, a 36-year-old Ohio editor named Robert Gunning, quit his job and started a consulting business. The specialty of the business was counseling in clear writing and showing businesses how they could improve their readability.
