Personal, sociological and environmental antecedents experienced by an individual and the consequences of these antecedents are critical in determining whether that individual has the capacity to become an entrepreneur or not (Zahra et al. 1999). This innate trait of a high need of achievement was one of the sociological antecedents responsible for the then enormous success of the company.
A third sociological antecedent that relates to this entrepreneur is the ability to lead people to achieve a vision. Mr. Ansett was a firm believer in employee relations. He applied the philosophy of taking care of employees to his own leadership style, introducing staff health and fitness programs at Budget. Keeping his employees inspired was one of Mr. Ansett’s main goals at the company and this resulted in his employees being highly inspired and taking Budget to a strong market position against competitors (Bob Ansett’s Achievements – About Bob Ansett n.d.).
The third category of antecedents that have shaped the career of Bob Ansett’s entrepreneurial career are the environmental antecedents. Studies by Petrof (1981) have shown that whether or not an individual’s father has started a company is the key factor that has an impact on the entrepreneurial process of an individual from an environmental point of view. This ties in with the personal antecedent as Mr. Ansett was born into a tourism and transport environment with an entrepreneur for a father. Although he started gaining insights of his father’s life only at age 32, this greatly influenced Mr. Ansett’s decision to start his own business and become a

In the world of business, few men stand out as boldly as Yvon Chouinard, who since 1965, has been exploring, cultivating and innovating a whole industry of its own built upon a love for the outdoors. Chouinard’s life story revolves around the concepts of entrepreneurship, sustainability, and passion; in success and failure, and the great irony of economic status. This unlikely journey of a businessman can best be explained through, Yvon’s background, his skills, traits and qualities, and lessons learned (I) have learned from the research process.
As previously mentioned, this study included a preliminary questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. All participants read and signed informed consent forms, then interview times were scheduled. All interviews last approximately one hour. Participants were asked to reflect as well as be descriptive about the process of becoming a successful entrepreneur. Participants were asked to consider the resources, benefits, and networks through social cohesion that made certain economic achievements available. Within forty-eight hours of the interview, data was transcribed and coded from the voice recorder. The interview method was a semi-structured face-to-face interview environment using open-ended questions.
Psychological theory has been used to better understand an individual’s willingness and ability to become a successful entrepreneur in society. It is widely recognised that entrepreneurs are a major source of economic growth and financial benefit for society; as such it is useful to understand the psychological traits and drivers behind a successful entrepreneur to encourage more people to become entrepreneurs for the benefit of society. There are two major psychological theories that are useful and also criticised in the understanding of entrepreneurship; these are the trait approach and the cognitive approach.
When evaluating big businesses large and small, the thoughts that entertain any average person’s mind is how that business soared to the heights it is at now? Many different answers can be considered when addressing an answer to that question which could be acquisition, increase in revenues, and joint operation between two companies or even high talent retention/acquisition. When looking to address that question bit deeper we have to look more behind the scenes management leadership styles. A leader when we think about it is someone with significant authority and/or influence to invoke change and also motivate workers to produce the highest quality work output. This paper will be addressing my leader “Michael Sacco” who is President of Seafarers International Union an employer from the subsequent past. This paper will attempt to describe him by applying either one or more than one of the various types of leadership styles. Questions that will be addressed are how Mr. Sacco address diversity within the union did, was he ethical, concern about how the organization impacted the consumer, and his leader values. Other topics that will be presented are the lifecycle stage Seafarers International Union (SIU) was at the during Marcus tenure there, what did Mr. Sacco do to enhance the culture and/or destroy it during that tenure.

The experience of working on Necker Island with the entrepreneur Richard Branson was an opportunity of a life time. Not only was she able to observe and assist Richard in his business ventures, part of her job was organise and host parties and events on the island for some of the world’s most prominent business people. This she believes was one of the first catalysts for her which made her think of setting up business for herself. After working and socialising with rich and successful business men and women she realised that they were no different from her and if they could do it then so could she. As she had done before with the job on Necker she set a goal for herself that she would one day own her own business. She feels this is another example of the determination that set her on the path to success.
When referring to the tourism industry, it is essential to understand its difficulty. There does not existing an industry with a ordinary structure functioning as an entity. Rather an congregation of multiple diverse industries and factors influencing each other and usually forming the tourism environment represents it.
Entrepreneurship is risky venture, because of the many facts that could affect its outcome, however a lot of people are willing to overcome those challenges hoping to become their own boss. Mr. Bahar, 31 years old, a gentleman from Sudan, who came to the United States in 2004, is one of the people who risk it all to start a home based start-up trucking company, (He runs it from his apartment in Fort Wayne, IN). In an interview I had with him, Mr. Bahar talked to us about his experience.
The overall objective of this individual assignment is targeted in two separate, yet strongly interrelated sections. Our first task is concerned with one inspiring entrepreneurial story and its reasons for success. Furthermore, other factors for success will be discussed, in the light of relevant literature. Additionally, I will identify the personal takeaways I can take from it. To support this, I also intend to explain the logic used to identify these takeaways. Other interesting details of this entrepreneurial story, but not relevant for the main critical analysis, will be placed in the appendix.
The type of service of provider that I have chosen for this assignment is the restaurant sector. This sector can include restaurants from fast service to fine dining. In recent years, this has been the largest industry group, employing 775,200 people in 2006 (“Discover Tourism”, 2016). This sector is not only instrumental in meeting basic human needs, instead it has become a significant component in the tourism industry as well. Tourists nowadays are seeking to try different foods. They want to gain the authentic experience. Thus, the restaurant industry has developed different sectors in order to meet tourist’s needs. For instance, you have an outdoor catering sector that serves food and beverages at a low to medium price range. [This specific sector usually provides] limited levels of service and often high customer throughout (Pandey, 2014). Compared to a hotel, where the prices have been modified and customers will receive better service. Tourists will gain a better experience from there. However, the restaurant sector has been impacted through environmental, social and economic impacts. This will not affect the industry as a whole, but to consumers. The following paragraphs will be issuing these points along with sustainability with the operations and the supply chain.
The entrepreneur I choose to interview is a well-known and respectable woman in the tourism-hospitality industry in Vietnam. Her name is Ngoc T.B. Nguyen. There are now many different definitions for the word entrepreneur and entrepreneurship, the definition of entrepreneur as the ‘risk taker’ might be the one that suits her best. Born in 1963, this woman has spent more than 10 years in the Tourist industry and has since then been an inspirational model for many young adults in her hometown. Nguyen started to work for a local hotel as a receptionist at the age of 20. At this time, because of many reasons, she finished high school but could not pursue her dream of studying higher. Not giving up, Nguyen kept working hard
