In our world today, it is unfortunate that people are using their hate as motivation to do immoral actions towards other innocent victims. In 2014, information was recorded by the Southern Poverty Law Center that there were around 784 active hate groups in the United States (Brunker par.4). A hate group is defined as a collection of people that promotes and performs aggressive actions towards members of a race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, and many more characteristics. Ku Klux Klan, Neo Nazi, Black Separatist, and White Nationalist are all examples of hate groups and are still currently active today. Hate groups are usually involved in hate crimes which is any illegal action perceived to be against one specific group of people (Crime Museum par.1). Every hate group’s goal is for their group to be superior over all types of human life and for everyone to believe in their beliefs. In the year 64 A.D. in the Roman Empire, Emperor Nero accepted the Christian religion until a colossal fire obliterated a huge portion of Rome. Emperor Nero gave fault to the Christians because he felt as if he was being held accountable for the fire. He instructed any person that pursued the Christian faith to be penalized (Crime Museum par.2). This example is one of the earliest recordings of hate crimes documented in historical papers and this scenario also made it difficult for Christians to practice their religion as for other religions in years to come.
