First, 101 Ways to Combat Prejudice defines prejudice, discrimination and scapegoating as follows:
Prejudice: making a decision about a person or group of people with out sufficient knowledge.
Discrimination: the denial of justice and fair treatment by individuals and institutions in many arenas, including employment, education, housing, banking, and political rights. Discrimination is an action that can follow prejudiced thinking.

The difference between these three words or actions is vague and slight.
