Human Geography - Abby Flint
Vocabulary-
1.Globalization-
D- is a process of interaction or integration among the people, companies, and governments of different nations.
S- it has effects on the environment, on culture, and on economic development. It increases interaction between places affecting human physical well-being around the world. An example for culture and economic globalization i would use is McDonald, it has restaurants all over the world. Another example of a famous route is the silk road which globalized ancient Europe and Asia. 2. five themes of Geography- location- D- is where a place is in the world. Location can be described as relative or absolute. Relative location is where a place is in comparison to another place.

16. Relocation diffusion-
D- is the spread of information or and idea through physical human movement from place to place.
S- it shows how when people migrate they bring ideas and culture with them. For example this is why there can be four different languages being spoken in one place.
17. stimulus diffusion-
D- is when one group receives a cultural element from another but gives it a new and unique form.
S- it shows how ideas are changed from place to place but the underlying concept can remain the same. An example is McDonald's opening in India, since Hindus don't eat cow, and most of the population of India and Hindu. They change the meat to make them veggie burgers but they still have burgers.
18. expansion diffusion-
D- is the rapid, widespread diffusion of characteristics throughout a population.
S-it shows how a trend can start in one place and very quickly spread outwards in every direction. The trend spreads like a contagious flu.
19. latitude/longitude-
D- are angles that uniquely define points on a sphere.
S- together the angles make a coordinate that can pinpoint any geographic position on the surface of the Earth, or any other
categories. Downtown became the common term used to define the area of the city where the
Located at the base of the Wasatch Mountains is the wonderful city of Sandy. Sandy City is one of the more populous areas of Salt Lake City and the 5th largest city in Utah. It is a large, mostly suburban area with a population of about 94,000 people. It extends from I-215 to the north, E 12300 to the south, W 10600 S to the west, and Little Cottonwood Canyon Road to the east.
1. The reasons why some buildings are in the floodplains is because of agricultural industry. Another reason is population growth and expansion into those areas where people felt safe because of improvements of levees. Even though people were told about the dangers most people relied on disaster insurance instead of flood insurance. There should be laws that prohibit further development of these areas because it is costing the taxpayers lots of money for people that want to live in these areas that know the risks. If there were laws in place they could use some of the land as soccer fields and football fields as overflow ponds if they do want to build in a floodplain they need to raise the ground up by hauling in soils that will let the water pass through into those overfill ponds.
The enviromnet plays a huge role in the way they live in Africa. Where a region is located has a very big impact on the activities that are able to take place there. If a place is too hot or too cold, certain plants are not able to grow there. Also, too much rainfall or not enough rainfall can help or prevent certain plants from growing. In Africa your specific location in regards to elevation, and the equator, the climate and the natural resources all play a role in Africa's economy.
In chapter 3, it discussed the different territorial states of Egypt, Southwest Asia, East Asia, and the South Pacific. During the early developments of these territorial states, climate played a big role in each states. Farmers were largely affected by the climate changes, and long period of droughts occurred throughout the lands. Due to the radical changes of climates, “powerful warming and drying trend”, it was hard for many territorial states to continue to grow enough crops to feed their people or raise animals (textbook pg 93). Thus, causing them to move and try to find a better place to live where there is more water, and this migration caused many developments to occur. An important development that I would say is the most important that led to the growth of the these early territorial states is the development of the

The development of interaction between various societies impacted many aspects of the daily human life as described in David Christian’s This Fleeting World. Aspects such as trade, the exchange of ideas, and distribution of resources were all impacted through the development of interactions between various societies. The close relationships between societies eventually led to globalization which can be defined as global interdependence. Globalization also means that an event occurring in one part of the world can affect another part of the world just as easily.
In 2015, I scored a three in the AP Human Geography exam. I have attached a copy of my score report below. I, also, recently requested CollegeBoard to send the AP score to Lipscomb University, and it should take around a week for the score to arrive.
b. It can be easy to picture colonial rule as a pyramid structure, but the wheel analogy helps the reader understand that the truth was more nuanced and
Anthropological interpretations give two reasons for cultural change: one, the internal dynamics within a society and
Our first theme of geography that was displayed in this book is location. With location we have two options. A relative location as option one is very simple and can be easily understood. An example of relative location would be as easy as giving someone directions to something that was close by. In ‘The Adventures of Tom Sawyer’, we have several good examples of relative location. A very clear example is when one of Tom Sawyer’s friends, Huckleberry Finn, “found a spring of clear cold water close by”(151). Because the location of this spring is “close by”, this makes the location, relative. Option two of location is known as absolute. Absolute location is very specific, such as coordinates on a map of longitude and latitude. An example of this in the novel is when Tom Sawyer and his friends discover how big the island is that they are on using specifics in exactly how many miles long it is and what shore it was closest too, again, using specific
Since the early development of civilizations, cultures have borrowed and adopted ideas from each other. As an example,
