• Checked vital signs, administered medication as schedule, and reported accurate recording of patient weight while gathering collected routing specimens for the immediate supervisor. • Implemented behavior modification programs for each individual patient based on the patient behavior. • Executed physical holds, as necessary to deescalate the situation to keep a patient from endangerment to themselves or others. • Supervised patients during visitation, recreational and leisure activities. • Interacted with patients in a group setting to observe behaviors and took notes accurately in orders to communicate their status to the medical specialists so recommended treatments and adjustments can be implemented. • Maintained accurate documentation
In Chapter 7 of our What Is Psychology textbook, we learned about the importance, details and strategies of memory techniques. One type of memory is Short Term, which only last up to thirty seconds before forgetting. Whenever has to remember a number or a name, they often repeat the information multiple times so that the Short Term Memory can transition into Long Term Memory. In order for this transition to occur, the information must be constantly repeated, or important enough to be held in the permanent memory, which helps create a “folder” with all retaining information and reminiscing. Another way short term can become long term is using a method called Chunking, this breaks the bigger pictures into smaller ones for the brain to remember,
Positive reinforcement strengthens a behavior by providing a consequence an individual finds rewarding. Negative reinforcement strengthens behavior because it stops or removes an unpleasant experience. Punishment is defined as the opposite of reinforcement since it is designed to weaken or eliminate a response rather than to increase it.
Conducted medical interviews/detail physical examinations, formulated working diagnoses, developed mutually acceptable plans of care, and provided ongoing counselling/follow-up care for patients with chronic medical conditions.
Examine patients and establish diagnoses by patient history, physical examination, and other methods of assessment.
This was my last day in the hospital I dedicated to observe the skills and procedures performed in the emergency room after the doctor evaluates and places medical orders. I could evaluate the electronic medical orders, preparation of medicines, the use of pixie for dispensing the necessary drugs necessary for dispensing pixie and control them. I was in the guidance given by the nurse to the patient prior treatment, patient identification, how the EHR is used, also observe the canalization, blood test, the placement of cardiac monitor and oxygen mask. How patients are placed according to their condition whether in the general observation area, in cardiac, CPR or OB /
Helped treat patients by applying heat packs; paraffin dips; Assisted patients into whirlpool; helped patients onto exercise equipment, monitored motion; tracked walking time and distance; measured mobility; performed prescribed exercises and strengthening techniques.
Escorted patients to examination rooms and prepped them for clinical observation. Performed peripheral vision tests on patients through the use of office equipment. Served as the initial point of contact for patients, fielded and routed telephone calls, and responded to various patient inquiries. Collected accurate demographic and financial information. Prepared various documents and secured patient’s signatures to guarantee compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
Greeted patients upon arrival. Created a friendly environment for waiting ill-patients. Treated patients with respect. Retrieved patient information. Insured patient's insurance was active and collected correct copay amount. Promptly recorded patient's reasons for visit in computer system. Evaluated incoming patient's degree of illness for immediate medical care, triaged patients accordingly. Used effective communication skills to handle difficult patients during busy business hours. Maintained patient confidentiality and professional demeanor. Monitored waiting room for cleanliness and security.
In the second chapter of the seventh edition Psychology textbook, it discusses biopsychology, neuroscience, and human nature (Zimbardo, Johnson, McCann, 2014). This chapter touches base on the building blocks of the nervous system. Write like one sentence explaining the previous sentence. Within this section, it focuses on demyelinating disorders. Demyelinating disorders occurs when the myelin sheath that protects the central nervous system (CNS) is damaged. Several examples of this type of disorder would include Schilder’s disease, HTLV-1 Associated Myelopathy (HAM), Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis (ADEM), Neuromyelitis optica (NMO), Balo’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The most common demyelinating disorder is Multiple Sclerosis
The article I read from The New York Times is about how plastic is threatening to seabirds lives. This has to do with psychology because they study the effects of plastic on the birds, and the brain is effected. Waste and global warming is becoming a major problem on our planet, and many animals are being negatively affected. Studies and experiments like this occur everyday in psychology. Psychology can be defined as the scientific study of behavior and mental processes (textbook p.5). In this case, the behavior of humans leaving harmful plastic around is affecting the behavior of the seabirds. According to Fleur, we know this is an increasing issue because there are several other studies like the “Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences”. It also discusses how the plastic production has doubled globally every 11 years since the 1950s, which is crazy to even think about because its currently 300 million tons per year.
Measured weight and height for younger and children, blood pressure and blood glucose reading for adult patients. Provided awareness to the public on communicable diseases, their prevention and control. Distributed medicine samples free to the patients, gave instructions to use them as directed by the physician and highlighted the significance of proper follow up.
Remember to clearly and simply explain procedures. Take the time to answer any questions the patient has.
The responsibilities for students in Fundamentals clinical are very basic and very important. We would complete morning care with the support of a PCA, take vital signs, assist with breakfast and lunch, and converse with the patient. Before we started every shift, we would get a short report on our patient. My patient was Ms. A.R., a 75 year old Russian lady. She was admitted to the hospital for chest pain, and was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes two years ago.
Upon starting her shift, she assessed any patients already in care for vital signs and needs. As patients came in she would assess the client and continue to provide care for the new client
My responsibilities were taking patients’ histories, doing physical examinations, performing EKGs, reviewing the patient medications,
