December of 2009 in snowy New York City, NY at the Apollo theatre. This has been my first competition at the Apollo theatre and I was extremely nervous. I was the youngest jumper to go that year and my group was overwhelmingly underprepared and over excited. All the older kids were proud of us so far based on how we had acted and carried ourselves at such a young age. Especially considering we had driven through a blizzard which prolonged our trip from an eight hour drive to a 17 hour drive from Chapel Hill, NC to New York, NY. At jump rope competitions they have rounds of jumpers to be called up to the stage called “heats”. Finally, after stretching, warming up and an inspirational speech from my coach and older kids, my groups “heat” was
The Union enjoyed overall success in the Western Theater in 1862, but the year also brought defeat and setbacks between the times of Grant’s River War and the Battle at Stones River during the Civil War. These events contradicted the Unions success with strategic embarrassments that demonstrated the Union’s youth in military strategy in handling two separate theaters and management of men and goods.
We’ve worked hard to make The Lookout one of the most exciting and innovative communities in Chelan. Whether you are looking to rent a vacation home or hoping to buy, living at The Lookout offers the best in contemporary living. It might be fresh and new, but that doesn’t mean you can’t step out every once in awhile and enjoy something from the past. Founded in 1902, the city of Chelan offers an eclectic mix of the old and the new, and nothing in the area offers the best of both worlds quite like the historic Ruby Theatre in downtown Chelan.

Theatre is a collaboration of various forms of fine art which utilizes live performances presenting before the audience on a stage at a specific place within a scheduled time (Dugdale 10). The message is communicated through a combination of various channels like songs, speech gestures or dances. Stagecraft skills are combined with elements of art to make the performance more physical and near to real life experience. Theatre is categorized broadly into drama, musical theatre, comedy, tragedy and improvisation. Any form of these accepts integration of various production modes and collective reception to influence the artwork being presented. As a result of this cooperation of items in the theatre

In the age of Augustus myth played a large role in Roman identity, with myths being used to justify alliances and political activities. The search for a common mythological ancestor amongst cities or countries offered a sense of legitimacy to the alliances that were struck because of these links. On a smaller scale, Romans sought to find familial links that meant that they were more qualified to make a decision, and Augustus was no exception to this. Augustus’ family were an old and distinguished family, however were not patrician, and he was ashamed of the fact that his great-grandfather was an ex-slave, the lowest on the social chain in Rome. In order to justify his leadership, and offer a more glamourous family background Augustus worked hard to establish his and Julius Caesar’s link to the Prince of Troy, Aeneas. Not only that, but Augustus was focused on establishing divine familial ties,
Many aspects of ancient Greek theaters have long been studied and debated. Much of the information about these theaters is based on speculation due to the fact that so little of them still exist today. This lack of remnants especially applies to the architecture of the early Greek Theaters. However, through archeological finds and years of studying the people, the plays, and the architecture of the time, we are able to make many conclusions about these early structures.
Musical Theatre is an art that I always envisioned myself pursing at the collegiate level and what I want to make a career out of as well. My perfect musical theatre program that I would want, would be a program that would help me to achieve a better understanding of who I am as a musical theatre artist first and then hopefully I can expand my artistic goals and further develop myself through whichever institution that I am attending. The musical theatre training that I have received in high school through my creative arts high school New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) whether its been in dance, vocal, acting, or the productions that I have been cast
Starting off my group tried to use the list of movement vocabulary. That didn’t work out so instead we decided to focus on what our theme or story would be. Eventually we settled on two topics, unrequited love and love at first sight.
The theater that Cuthbert Burbage built for the Chamberlain's Men had a total capacity of between 2,000 and 3,000 spectators. Because there was no lighting, all performances at the Globe were conducted, weather permitting, during the day (probably most often in the mid-afternoon span between 2 P.M. and 5 P.M.). Because most of the Globe and all of its stage was open air, acoustics were poor and the actors were compelled by circumstances to shout their lines, stress their enunciation, and engage in exaggerated theatrical gestures. What would seem most striking to a modern (Broadway) theatergoer about the productions staged at the Globe is that they were completely devoid of background scenery. Although costumes
"The arts of the western world have been largely dominated by the artistic standards established by the Greeks of the classical period" (Spreloosel 86). It is from the Greek word theatron, meaning a place for sitting, that we get our word theater. According to James Butler, "The Greeks were the first people to erect special structures to bring audiences and theatrical performers together" (27). "The theaters were normally located near a populated area at the bottom of or cut out of a carefully selected, sloping hillside overlooking a seascape, a plain, or a city" (Butler 30). "They eventually with few exceptions consisted of three distinct parts: theatron
Roman theater has been around since the Greeks created it in the sixths century B.C., Romans later revamped Greek theatrical plays, characters, and stages. Many concepts of theater that the Greeks and Romans created are still around today such as tragedy, comedy and musical numbers. Many people believe that it was the drama of the theater that was so enjoyable to watch, one example of this extreme drama is Phrynichus’ most famous play the Fall of Miletus. This specific play brought the entire audience to tears and Phrynichus was fined one thousand drachmas, for upsetting the citizenry. Along with creating the concepts of theater the Greeks also constructed some of the first stages, some of which are still used today. The last genuine Greek plays were presented more than two thousand years ago, so we will probably never know exactly how Greeks
