Wayne’s relationship with Apple ended a year later due to financial reasons. With minimal funds, Jobs and Wozniak needed an investor to continue production. Mike Markkula, a retired marketing manager, provided financing and became one-third owner which led to the creation of Apple Computer Inc. The closest comparison to this small computer at the time was the Altair 8800 and the Intel microprocessors used in calculators and watches. An improved version of the Apple 1 developed into the Apple 11, the first personal computer with graphics and a keyboard, and IBM soon followed Apple’s lead with their version of a small computer. The market for personal computers had been primarily in the business industry. Apple Computer sales netted $50 million by the last quarter of 1979 (Gitman & McDaniel, 2009) and Apple soon became the personal computer of choice for many small businesses and families, especially when Apple introduced the more user- friendly Macintosh computer in the 1980’s. The Macintosh was Apple’s first major step in adapting the personal computer to the desires of corporate America. In ten years, Apple had grown from two employees in a garage to a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees (Jobs, 1985). What began as a hobby for Jobs and Wozniak soon became an essential part of many households and established the foundation for the Apple empire. The Apple partnership remained until the latter part of 1980 when it was offered to
Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded Apple in California in 1976. Their mission was to introduce an easy to use computer to market, which led to a computing revolution and quickly became the industry leader by selling more than 100,000 Apple IIs in 1980. After IBM entered PC market, IBM PCs, which used Microsoft’s DOS (OS), gained more market share and became the new standard for the PC industry. At the same time, Apple introduced the Macintosh in 1984. However, Apple’s net income fell 62% due to the Mac’s slow processor speed and lack of software limited sales. In 1985, Steve Jobs was forced out and John Sculley took charge of the Mac. Under the direction of Sculley, Apple
On April 1st of 1976, 2 college dropouts by the name of Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak founded the Apple Computers Company. They later Changed the name to Apple Inc. They started out by selling Apple 1s out of Job’s garage, without a monitor, keyboard, or casing. The Apple 2 revolutionized the computer industry for being the first computer to have color graphics. Sales skyrocketed from $7.8 million to over $117 million in the year of 1980, the year that Apple went public. Wozniak left Apple in 1983 due to a fading interest in running Apple computers from day to day. Steve Jobs also left in 1985 and went on to do other projects. He founded his own company NeXT Software, and purchased Pixar from George Lucas, which would become a successful animation
College dropout Steve Jobs and high school dropout Steve Wozniak put Apple Computer (known as Apple) in the public eye on April 1st in 1976 via the Apple I computer kit, a starter for do-it-yourselfers (Deffree, Suzanne). Personal computing began primarily as an expensive hobby for those who could understand how to work with the mechanisms. The Apple I contained only the circuit board (the ‘brains’ of the system) with other limited things sold separately, but overall the system was to be built by its operator. It cost $666.66 which would be $2804.22 with relation to today’s inflation qualities (“The Inflation Calculator”, “History of the Apple Computer”). The introduction of these computers brought the technology to a wider audience, helping more people gain the
Apple Incorporated has come a long way over the years, starting more than 3 decades ago in 1976. Apple was founded by Steve jobs, Steve Wonzniak and Ronald Wayne initially entering a niche market in the production of the first computer, the Apple I, followed by the Apple II in 1978. Apple began its career as a successful company based upon strategic innovation, and they remain that way today, but it wasn’t always sunshine and lollipops, they experienced their fair share of struggles too.
Apple as explained above was founded by Wozniak and Jobs who began with the first edition of the Apple computer where for startup cash, they sold a van and used Job’s family garage as their shop premises in Los Altos, California This same garage harbored the great development of ideas and innovation techniques that resulted in the success of Apple till today (Mittan, 2010). Wozniak was the brilliant mind that invented the Apple computer while Jobs advertised and located a buyer for their first computer. From the same garage, they made and sold fifty computers that represented the commencement of Apple’s product line

Apple’s very own, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, are possibly the most innovative entrepreneurs of the 21st century. Steve Jobs, who often gets all the credit, and Steve Wozniak created many technologies and products that changed the economy and the importance of innovation in the 21st century. “Jobs and Wozniak are credited with revolutionizing the computer industry by democratizing the technology and making machines smaller, cheaper, intuitive and accessible to everyday consumers. Some companies start with a small loan of a million dollars; Apple did not. They started in a garage with a few friends and an idea. It was 1976 in a small garage in Los Altos, California that the Apple company got its start. Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak never imagined running a tech company. If one of them wanted to, it would never happen. If they never met, it wouldn't have happened. Only together, could they create the technology empire known as Apple. While not having much to start with, they did have each other and it was enough to make it work (Blumenthal, 21).
