Description of Community Los Angeles, a metropolis based in southern California, is known for its ethnically diverse population and known for being home to the entertainment industry. The city itself lies within a coastal basin and is sided on three ends with mountains which scale over 3,000 meters. It covers 502 square miles with a population of 3.8 million. It is the most populated county in the United States and has the third largest economy in the world with focuses in entertainment, media, science, sports, medicine, education, research, and fashion. California was originally a Spanish territory and was declared part of Mexico in 1821 in result of the Mexican war of Independence; this later became part of America as included with the purchase of the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo at which point Los Angeles was recognized as a municipality on April 4, 1850.(http://www.census.gov/population/metro, 2015)

United States Census in 2010 reported Los Angeles had a population of 3.7 million, and its population density was 8,092 per square mile. The median household income in Los Angeles was approximately $49,500. Approximately 874,000 (23%) were under the age of 18, 434,478 (11.5%) from 18-24, 1.2 million (32%) from 25 to 44, 880,000 (23.1%) from 45-64, and 400,000 (10.5%) whom were 65 and older; the median age was 34 years old.
