I. Introduction The purpose of my research is to diagnose the existing organizational culture of Redwood Coast Petroleum (RCP) to establish a more sustainable culture of innovation. With this research I have identified key cultural factors that must be changed for future sustainability of RCP. Using a hybrid qualitative and quantitative methodology, I conducted the diagnosis of RCP’s organizational culture. I used an Innovation Survey Assessment Tool from Innovation Point, a boutique innovation-consulting firm. The Innovation Survey Assessment Tool (ISAT) was given to all the managerial leaders at RCP. Redwood Coast Petroleum is a fueling and a lubrication company with over 50 years in the fueling industry. RCP has three site locations, two in Northern California and one in Southern California. RCP has 110 employees with total revenues around $21 million per year. The company’s mission statement is: “Redwood Coast Petroleum offers the greatest value in the commercial fueling marketplace. “We will be your Total Fueling Partner.” They back this mission statement by investing heavily into technology that will provide customers with complete control, transparency, and real time 24/7 services and information. RCP’s core values are, Integrity, Innovation, Operational Excellence and a Life and work balance. The focus of this study is on one of RCP’s core value Innovation. The company leaders state that innovation will keep the company on the cutting edge of the most important factors of the fueling and lubes industry. They want to learn and be open to new ideas, new methods, new customers and new devices. RCP has committed to working hard to get a better understanding of its customers needs by delivering a truly unique value in their products and services.
