Abstract:
Change management is an important aspect in construction project management, as changes constitute the main cause of schedule delay, cost overrun and other distributions. Many change management systems has been developed to minimize the impacts of change or facilitate changes management. However, change should be predicted as early as possible, and the problems can be identified and beneficial modification can be made as …show more content…
1.2. Research methodology
The one way to predict changes during Construction Process (CP) is to understand their cause and the process during which change happens, and then use efficient method to simulate this process. In this paper, the cause of change will be analyzed in the form of information flow, and then a method which can graphically represent the information flow in complex system called Dependency Structure Matrix (DSM) is used to represent and analyze the information flow graphically. In addition, rework scope is used to evaluate the effect of the information in the form of rework scope. Thus, the process during which change happens can be simulated by simulating the rework scope 's variety. Additionally, Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) is integrated in the system to enable

Monte Carlo Simulation : A Computerized Mathematical Technique
1932 Words 8 PagesIntroduction The Monte Carlo Simulation is a computerized mathematical technique that allows people to account for risk in quantitative analysis and decision. It furnishes the decisionmaker with a range of possible outcomes and probabilities that they will occur for any chance of action. It shows the extreme possibilities of things as well. The system calculates results over and over, each time using a different set of random values from the probability functions. The simulation could involve tens…

Project Completion Method: Stochastic Project Scheduling Simulation
5967 Words 24 PagesOF PROJECT COMPLETION USING STOCHASTIC PROJECT SCHEDULING SIMULATION (SPSS) DongEun Lee1 ABSTRACT This paper introduces a software, Stochastic Project Scheduling Simulation (SPSS), developed to measure the probability to complete a project in a certain time specified by the user. To deliver a project by a completion date committed to in a contract, a number of activities need to be carried out. The time that an entire project takes to complete and the activities that determine total project duration…

Monte Carlo Simulation
218872 Words 876 Pagesabout Monte Carlo methods from the perspective of financial engineering. Monte Carlo simulation has become an essential tool in the pricing of derivative securities and in risk management; these applications have, in turn, stimulated research into new Monte Carlo techniques and renewed interest in some old techniques. This is also a book about financial engineering from the perspective of Monte Carlo methods. One of the best ways to develop an understanding of a model of, say, the term structure of interest…

Risk Management Techniques For Construction Projects
1238 Words 5 PagesConstruction industry is a risky and there is no other industry that requires proper application of business practices as much as construction industry. The main objective of this research is to gain understanding of risk factors faced by building projects. The study also aims to investigate the effectiveness of risk preventive and imitative methods. From this Research paper, we can find the most important risk factors are: financial failure of the contractor, Environmental risk like natural disasters…

Economic Variables And Asset Returns Using Monte Carlo Technique
1428 Words 6 PagesIntroduction Economic trends vary from time to time. No one ensures today’s gain will lead to the consequence that I will still profit tomorrow. Therefore, it is truly crucial to generate scenarios for various economic variables and asset returns using Monte Carlo technique across multiple time periods. Moreover, many economic variables such as equity returns, credit transitions and exchange rates are stochastic processes. As a simple illustration for equity scenarios, we can use the basic Geometric Brownian…

Risk Management in Construction Projects Essay
2356 Words 10 PagesRisk management is a process used in all industries to reduce the risk. The Risk management tool usage changes from sector to sector and hence each sector has developed their own risk management tools and methodologies to mitigate the risk. But the concept remains the same behind all the tools (Ropel, 2011). The main steps for risk management irrespective of the sector are: 1. Risk Identification 2. Risk Assessment 3. Evaluation of the risk 4. Steps to mitigating the risks…
