Lately everyone is seeing school shootings and robberies on the news and how most of these crimes are done with the the gun known as the ar-15 also known as an assault rifle.A lot of people jumped on board to ban these guns. But will that really fix our shooting problem? A strong majority of vote in 2017 voted for the banning of the ar 15 after the school shooting in florida killing multiply students.61 percent of the adults in Florida say that the ar 15 should be banned.39 percent of the adults say that background checks and looking into there history is necessary to buy in gun.The reasons for banning ar’s are not to get the weapons away from normal and mentally stable people but to keep the guns of the streets and out of the reach of the kids that are capable and mentally unstable.
July 20th, 2012, twelve are killed and fifty-eight are injured at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. The man who killed them used a semi-automatic rifle with a one hundred round magazine. An automatic weapon has no use in the United States because all sporting events, and activities with guns can be accomplished without automatic weapons. It is important because it limits the possibilities of events like the shooting at the Sandusky school in Ohio. Some would say they are a good for shooting range activity and most people don’t commit crimes with them, getting rid of automatic weapons would get rid of the crimes committed with them overall. People die because of the actions taken with with assault rifles. Automatic weapons should be banned in the US because they are not needed for self defense, and they have almost no use in recreational activities.
Stephen Willeford one of the heroes from the Southernland Springs shooting. Is a certified NRA instructor and stopped the bad guy by chasing him with Johnie Langendorff going 90 mph and firing at him with his AR-15. The Only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. That is why there should not be banned.
Mass shootings are a controversial subject because many do not want to rush into gun control because they could because anxious from any recent mass shootings. Supporters of gun control believe that taking away “assault weapons” would solve this but that word was made up in the wake of these shootings . “Assault Weapons” are made up assault rifles are standard practice for the military as they are fully automatic and have big capacity magazines and are made specifically to do major damage. The “Assault Weapons” many supporters want to ban are known as semi-automatic rifles and have been around since the early days of the war with vietnam. In fact the AR-15 the most popular rifle in America and it was originally developed 60 years ago as defensive weapon and the company that developed it sold the rights to Colt to make fully automatic versions for the military called the M16 but also sold
And that is absolutely right, assault rifles like the most popular AR-15 are designed to do nothing more than to kill people. That’s why the III%’ers sleep next to one every night. Police use AR-15s, so why can’t we the people use them. People use them to protect themselves against enemies trying to break into their homes. These AR-15s that are classified as “killers” are only used in 2% of crimes. If the government doesn’t want you to have them, you’re probably going to want to have
This topic of gun control is such a great thing in today's society. People say they want change people say thing need to be done that we need to get rid of assault weapons. This thing of banning assault weapons is just not possible because the AR 15 as they say “ the worst killing machine that has ever been introduced to the public” stated a freshman girl from the parkland shooting, is the worst and most deadly thing and we have to get rid of it. But it is one of the most widely guns used for hunting in the US; in total gun deaths the handgun is the most deadly and bad people will still get the guns they want you will only take away from the good people. So why do we need to ban assault rifles why not just work on making school and workplaces safer. The AR 15 is the gun most under scrutiny now. People don't like it because it looks tactical and deadly. But what people don't know is that it is one of the most used rifles in the US for hunting. this is du to it having such a small round it shoots just a little bigger round than a handgun, but people don’t like this
In our present day, mass shootings have become more and more common, and the debate over gun control has been relentless, complicated and lacks an easy answer. However, thousands of people have died from firearm homicides and therefore it is necessary to discuss the harmful and unnecessary role of assault weapons in our society. According to the Washington Post the U.S. has had one mass shooting per month since 2009. Assault weapons pose a threat to the safety of our citizens and should be banned.
I pay attention more to the politics surrounding guns than anything else on the news. It has had such an impact on my life that I am actually an active member of the National Rifles Association. The National Rifle Association of America is an American nonprofit organization, which advocates for gun rights (NRA, 2017). Founded in 1871, the group has informed its members about firearm-related bills since 1934, and it has directly lobbied for and against legislation since 1975 (NRA, 2017). It is also the oldest continuously operating civil rights organization in the United States (NRA, 2017). The National Rifles Association is a huge support group for second amendment right. I am a firm believer in our second amendments right; "A well-regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed” (Cornell, 2014). It is the single most important given right, guaranteed to American Citizens. It is the most important right, because it keeps the government from being able to impose tyranny and most importantly, the second amendment gives us the right to protect and defend ourselves even when our government cannot. My political views on assault rifles are also more republican than democrat. I do not believe that banning firearms or certain types of firearms will solve the violence we have in the U.S but only allow us to be susceptible to further violence without the tools to defend ourselves. The whole point of gun control is to create further laws to keep those who should not have guns from obtaining them and make laws harder on responsible citizens. However, criminals, terrorists, and mentally disturbed shooters don't follow laws. They take advantage and prey upon the weak that do not posses the tools to defend themselves, hence the reason why we hear about school
Assault weapons like the AR-18, M4 Carbine and combat rifle should not be in the hands of everyday citizens. These guns are unnecessary for anything except military use. Many of these guns are used in school shootings in order to get as many kills as possible, guns like these were used in the Columbine shooting and the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. I think if we were to enforce the banning of these weapons we could save many potential victims from mass shootings. “Assault weapons in mass shootings result in more people shot or killed by 43%” (“Analysis of Mass Shootings”). If we can diminish the death rate at all we should try, and I think banning assault weapons would definitely help with it. Studies show that “56% of all adults surveyed approve of assault weapon bans,” if a little over half of the adults in the US are willing to ban assault weapons, why don’t we approve it (“Should More Gun Control Laws be Enacted?”)? Hunters that would argue are the ones using assault weapons for sport and “prefer” them for hunting. Assault weapons are not necessary in everyday life or hunting;hunting can be done with guns that don’t require multiple magazines, so it is unfathomable as to why we don’t have a ban already placed upon assault weapons. “From 2009-2014 Assault weapons killed more than 10 people per attack, with other weapons killing around 6 per attack” (“Analysis of Mass Shootings”).
However, owning guns has led to several shootings across the United States. Guns are too easily available and need to be monitored more often because of how they are accessed and how easy they are to purchase. Stricter gun control laws will help the situation become less violent and diminish School shootings.
According to the article America’s Gun: Rise of the AR-15 “The AR-15 is the most popular and some would say, misunderstood, rifle in America: an estimated 4 million in circulation.” The AR-15 is one of the most popular assault weapons/rifles in America, a ban on them would put a tremendous damper on the companies profits. There are many companies, such as Bushmaster Firearm Company, that make only assault weapons. Due to the major popularity of these types of weapons, Bushmaster Firearm Company, and many other companies like it would be forced to go out of
A ban of assault weapons isn’t a radical idea, in 1994 under the Clinton administration, “Congress adopted the Violent Crime Control Law Enforcement Act of 1994, which made it unlawful for a person to manufacture, transfer, or possess a semiautomatic assault weapon”, however the law was not renewed and expired in 2004. (Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence). Even though the 1994 Gun Control Law on paper didn’t significantly lower mass shooting, The Century Foundation points out, “There were five incidents in 1999 alone; the Columbine Massacre occurred in April 1999, and four other mass shooting incidents followed soon after. There is evidence that events like Columbine can inspire other mass shootings, so without Columbine and the following
At least 84 people have been killed and 119 have been injured so far this year in 86 shooting incidents involving assault-style rifles, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive, a not-for-profit corporation that tracks gun violence. The reason for the shootings can happen for numerous reasons such as terror or criminal acts. Regardless, this is happening because these delinquents have an easy access to assault weapons. Consequently, assault weapons should be banned and made illegal in the United States, unless used by governmental armed forces. Assault weapons are dangerous, impractical, and when not properly operated can misfire and kill innocent bystanders.
I am sure that everyone of you have heard about aliens and UFOs. Indeed, we all have heard about the famous case of aliens and UFOs in Roswell, New Mexico. Most people might be interested in the topic of aliens, but I know that the majority of you just think of it as rumours and the existence of them are impossible. Therefore, I am standing here in front all of you to make you change your perspective. I am strongly confident that I have found the evidence of their real existence to convince all of you.
For example, using a leftover coffee can for loose nails or screws, or even washing and reusing a plastic zip-loc bag instead of throwing it in the garbage. Thrift shopping is a way of reusing someone else’s unwanted goods. As I spoke about in an earlier speech about thrifting, I included many locations and ways to thrift, also the benefits to the shopper and the donator. One place in particular was shopping at the local boys and girls club. I personally shop there, keeping my eyes open for a good deal. For example, the pair of jeans that I am wearing today was purchased from this store just a few months ago. I paid only $8.00 for this pair of Lucky Jeans and according to buckle.com, a retailer for lucky jeans the retail price is $99.00 that is a savings to me of $91.00.I am not the type to worry about name brands, but quality usually does cost more. If I can get a quality pair of jeans at a fraction on the price, I am glad to shop at the thrift store. I am thankful to the person that made the donation of the lucky jeans and they can benefit from that donation. According to the IRS webpage, IRS. Gov it explains that an individual can donate items like clothing, household furniture and furnishings, a car or boat, even taxidermy. The donations are appraised, by the donator, and recorded. At the time of filing taxes if the donation equals at least $500 for the year, the donator may take advantage of the
These people say high-powered assault rifles, which were designed for military and police use, are a “major factor in increasing the death toll at shootings”. This is not enough reason to ban assault rifles, especially since they are cherished favorites among many gun collections. Assault rifles are like the celebrities of the gun world; they show up in the media all the time. For example, the Bushmaster XM-15 rifle and the .22-caliber Savage Mark II rifle got their fame following the Sandy-Hook shooting; the Smith & Wesson semiautomatic rifle and the Remington shotgun got their fame following the theater shooting in Colorado. More recent celebrities include the Del-Ton assault rifle following the Umpqua Community College shooting, the DPMS Panther Arms assault rifle following the shooting in San Bernardino, and a repeat celebrity, the Smith & Wesson semiautomatic assault rifle, which also appeared in the San Bernardino shooting. With celebrity assault rifles like these, people can actually be proud of their gun collections, so why would anyone want to hurt that with stronger gun laws? But, this is just one of the many great reasons why high-powered assault rifles are valuable to the welfare of our citizens; others include fending off an alien invasion, a zombie apocalypse, or a small rogue army if you ever happen to encounter one. These dangers are more common than you may think, therefore, it is essential that assault rifles are available to
