Running head: BEIJING NATIONAL STADIUM Introduction The location of the stadium is in the Olympic Green. It is built at a cost of US$423 million. Swiss architecture firm Herzog and de Meuron is believed to be the main architect if the stadium (Pasternak & Clifford, 2012). A leading Chinese artist was the artistic consultant of the project. The layout of the stadium came from research having involving fired clay in China. The structural engineer of the stadium was Ove Arup and Partners who doubled up as the mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers (MEP) The Design- Bid- Build method of contraction was used in the project. Architectures and contractors The Herzog and de Meuron Architekten, (HdM) is leading Swiss architecture firm founded and with its headquarters in Basel, Switzerland in 1978. The founders Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron born 19th April 1950 and 8th May 1950 respectively, have the highest honors in architecture (Pasternak & Clifford, 2012). Their early works were facts trying to explain pieces of modernity that registered on the same level as the minimal art of Donald Judd. Among outstanding works by this architectures that have suggested a changing attitude include the Barcelona Forum building and some work in Prada Tokyo. The construction considered many factors during the designation of the stadium including a good view by every spectator, creating a good atmosphere and designing an elegant building.
