IN THE WILD OR CAGED UP?
These days there are several different animal breeds in zoos for people to look at. They are all over the world, some are in good conditions and the animals are treated well, but then there ´s the ones that are opposite of that. Are these zoos really necessary for the well being of the animals, or is it just cruel capturing them and closing them in much smaller places than what they should have and letting them be abused? Every kind of animal is ready there to just be looked and used as an entertainment in zoos. Some animals have a big environment around them, but what about the animals stuck in the less fortunate countries with little money to support what every breeds requires and needs in order to survive and live a satisfied life? There are more of those than the other. Especially if you go to vacation on a

Without these they wouldn’t have survived in the wild. The kind of animals that is being talked about now are the animals that are hunted and killed for their skin to be sold, teeth to be used in rituals by so called ‘’witches’’ and healers. For example, the rhino is endangered now because hunter have been cutting their horns off and leaving them for dead. The hunters earn thousands on killing with no remorse and the animals disappear as the years go by while we can’t do anything. These endangered animals have been taking care of and still are by people and put in zoos and protected against anyone that are going to hurt them. Making sure that they mate and get children so they won’t disappear from earth like many others have. Without the zoos that do this task it would be uncertain of how many animals would have been killed of the planet and the only thing left of them would be pictures and
Zoos have always been criticized because some claim that animals are being abused and mistreated due to the lack and care of certain zoos. However, zoos actually help many animals with research and are critically important for conservation purposes. People need to understand that zoos have programs that breed endangered animals as well as rescue programs for exotic animals that people are no longer able to support. Also, they have many hands on activities that allow people to get more connected to animals. In addition, zoos do not only focus on animals. They focus on environmental problems/concerns as well. Zoos help us stay educated about environmental impacts and animal care.
Animals kept in zoos has always been a controversial decision. Zoos have been around for 4,000 years. Many people argue about the impact a zoo has on an animal and the world. According to the article, ”Zoos: The Historical Debate”, “Some people argue that zoos play an important role in conservation of endangered animals, others say that zoos do more harm than good.” I believe that zoos play an important role in conservation. They also educate us about animals. Finally, zoos entertain us in many ways. In my opinion, zoos impact the world in a good way.
Keeping animals in zoos is a long-discussed ethical issue. Some people argue that keeping wild animals in zoos is reasonable, however its intolerable. The animals might be treated poorly. They are taken out of their natural habitat, put into a completely different environment and confront species of animals which they never encountered when they were free. The zookeepers don’t know how to take proper care of the animals. Keeping animals in zoos is unethical because, they can die of stress from seeing humans, they’re endangering species, and the keepers aren’t capable of taking care of them.
Zoos have been around for 4,000 years, for many years people have gone to zoos to see wild animals up close. What people do not know is animals don't have the best interest in being in a zoo. The article, "Zoos: The Historical Debate" from Globalanimal.org discusses some pros (positive sides) and cons (negative sides) of zoos. As well as how millions of people visit zoos around the world and how some argue that zoos are either places of education and conversation or unnecessary prisons. After reading the article a logical conclusion is zoos are detrimental to animals.
Zoos take giant roles to protect animals. In the magazines I read, "The Stripes Will Survive", and "The Zoos Go Wild," and the video that I watched called "Behind the Scenes with the National Zoo's Lion Cubs.", there are ways that they help the animals.
There have been a lot of problems with animals in zoos. It has gotten to the point where zoos are hated and looked upon as a places of animal torture. Are zoos really that bad? Turns out, they are. They do not have enough space, they do not allow the animals to communicate with each other, and they sell the animals to cruel circuses.
Some critics may argue that Zoos are a harmful and inhumane method of commercializing animals. While this may be true, zoos also are very beneficial not just to animals but to humans because they bring communities together and foster an appreciation of animals. This exposure motivates and educates people into protecting the animals. Rebecca Madden, a time staff
Zoos can be viewed as a humane or inhumane place for animals to live. There are negative and positive ways animals are treated at zoos. For instance, the recent death of Harambe the gorilla at the Cincinnati zoo, has people viewing zoos differently than they use to. People have stated the lives of animals are secondary to the lives of people. Is the treatment of animals in zoos humane? The treatment of animals in zoos is humane because of their breeding programs, the health of the animals, and the enclosures including their living environment.
We go to zoos for entertainment and our own amusement, however we should consider if it’s beneficial or harmful for animals. There are more than 1,000 zoos worldwide. Many of them that have about 1,800 animals from 300 species. Animals don’t deserve to be caged up and shown off at zoos because they get forced to breed, are in bad habitats, and are treated poorly.
Scientists track animals in the wild, when they see that a species number in getting low they are brought into a nature park or sanctuary where they can take care of them. Zoos also make it easier for scientist to learn more information about a certain species. One might say that the small habitat of a zoo could be more dangerous to the endagered species, but the animals have workers caring for them all the time. Therefore, letting animals be in zoos benefits them if they are endangered and benifets us when scientists can study
The first zoo was started in Vienna, Austria is 1748 and is still running today. So zoos have been entertaining people for many many years, but is that all they are good for? Zoos are beneficial for animals and make their lives better. A lot of people think that keeping animals locked up in a small habitat is a terrible thing. However, many species are starting to go extinct. Which is not good at all. “About 41 percent of all amphibian species and 26 percent of all mammals are now threatened with extinction, and fully half of the world’s primates — our closest relatives — teeter on the edge of existence.” (stlzoo.org) Zoos care for more than the amusement and education of people. They also offer the best nutrition, enrichment and environment for the animals they have in their care.
Some people agree that animals should be kept in the zoo. They said it would be safer for the animals and they won’t be extinct. The amount of possibilities of them dying, shot by hunters or any other reason, still higher than the chances of their survival. Food and shelter are provided, medicine, and their breeding is being controlled. And many of the wild animals in zoos are ones that are on the endangered list as their amounts are rapidly diminishing. Letting them loose and returning them to the wild is not necessarily a safe option. (Mylot, 2007) In fact, zoo can be one of the educational studies for children and people who are interested with animals. Zoo is the only place that we can have an opportunity to see animal’s life really close and sometimes we can touch them. Zoos also provide lots of information about certain animals, children can have chance to get out of the classroom and learn so they can see natural beauty from different species of animals. Even children can see them from discovery channel but that’s really different if you see animal in real world, for an example, if you see crocodile, snake or shark in the movie, maybe you won’t afraid than you see the real one. According to Tudge, (1992, p.56) Zoos are the place where people can study animals and their habitat, even scientist don’t need to go
First of all, the animals in zoos aren’t always treated right. Animals are sometimes beaten to be taught. Animals might be hard headed but that is still not a reason to beat them. Animals aren’t always mistreated by zookeepers. They might even be mistreated by visitors. Zoos don’t always care about the money. According to peta kids.com, a lot of times
Not all animal should be in zoos because some may have had a family and they may have been taken away from them. Animals may have been losing their hunting, persisting skills. Imagine a lion feeling all blue because they have been separated from their family, friends, and nature. Eventually the animal is going to die of depresses. Animals need an enormous, wide-space environment to live. They would probably feel crowded like New York and they don’t want that…… do they?
Zoos give us the chance of seeing some of the most endangered species on earth, which might otherwise be a once in a lifetime opportunity. But if it means that the animals don’t get the life that they deserve, should we be visiting them, paying, or enjoying it, just to see animals in captivity? Some places allow animals to roam freely about their zoo, but most don’t. Many zoos force animals to stay behind bars their entire life, and lots of babies are born in captivity. However, some people may argue that although animals are being held captive, animals don’t feel the same way as us, so we can’t compare it to how a human might feel in those circumstances. Also, people want to be able to see some of the rarest and most endangered species on
